But, leaving all the details to your children, when they are getting older and starting to slow down, seems a little unfair. My husband and I are making an effort to think about this now (in our 50's) and not put it off until we can't manage decisions and our children have to pick up the slack. It's not that I mind helping out an elderly parent--and I have that responsibility now--but not making any plans for your old age and thinking you'll always be able to make rational decisions is a mistake! A strong will and striving to maintain independance is admirable, but will alone cannot keep a person independant. Live for today but make plans for your future, people!

Bathroom comment: I will "hold it" before I will use some bathrooms. We thought we'd had a good place for him, in a smaller assisted living place, but he peed into their piano and got kicked out for bad behavior. Dementia is a sad thing. With my MIL still living with us, it speaks volumes. She says that in 4 years (when her license comes due again) she won't drive anymore. Well, that's fine and dandy, but with her here all day who is going to drive her? :) and yes, public restrooms are most definitely interesting. Perhaps you could photograph them from around the country and create a book for restrooms with images of other restrooms in it? Kind of like Kramer's coffee table book about coffee tables? I've been busy packing to go camping, and getting ready for our chickens to get caught tonight, and I haven't been able to get online! When Lance and I first got married, thanks to my Public Relations degree, I thought that I would work with the public. Where was that place?? The DMV. I worked there for a year. The sad thing is that the bathrooms were probably the room I enjoyed the most because it was the only place I could get a break from customers yelling at me, cussing at me, and making me just feel plain stupid. I hated it there.Stephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18423029433065907454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1160371074353452445.post-22097026496749353602009-07-01T09:56:16.614-07:002009-07-01T09:56:16.614-07:00EEEWWWWWW that's NASTYEEEWWWWWW that's NASTYKaren Deborahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05892103639142471595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1160371074353452445.post-78814377642363655572009-07-01T09:26:56.019-07:002009-07-01T09:26:56.019-07:00Suzanne....I am laughing out loud at the jock stra...Suzanne....I am laughing out loud at the jock strap.
