(The "turducken" cake, not the Red Velvet Cheesecake, I might have to make that one, I do make a cheesecake for every holiday!).

I hate those CFL Lightbulbs. They would be fine in the house, but we probably have 500 lightbulbs in our chicken houses, and they blow a lot! We've tried using the CFLs to see if they last longer, but they don't. They blow just as often. What I hate about them is the lighbulb changers we have to use to reach the bulb on the ceiling, doesn't work with the CFLs. They just usually end up breaking. If you read on the packaging, if you break them, you're supposed to call hazmat! Yeah right, I'm going to call them and have them rope off my chicken houses while they clean up a lightbulb. I don't think so. I'm sure they'll eventually make us change to those, but until then, I'll stick to the regular kind, and they better be working on a lightbulb changer for them.Stephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18423029433065907454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1160371074353452445.post-58280065416114771362010-11-15T10:15:36.513-08:002010-11-15T10:15:36.513-08:00Love the Chernobyl comment ~ agreed!

I can't understand the love for red velvet cake either - no specific flavor just tons of food coloring?? I like a taste besides just sweet - so I'll pass on that. You are supposed to carefully wrap any broken or dead bulbs and take them to hazardous waste sites. Too much bother. That is a cake that belongs on Cake Wrecks. Have you ever checked out that website? My kids and I laughed and laughed at some of the cakes we found on there. I will have a slice of that cheesecake though. I can't say I'm a big fan of red velvet cake, but I am a big fan of cheesecake!
We use the compact fluorescents. Not in the outside lights, because they really don't like the cold, but overall I don't mind them. They do last a whole lot longer than the regular bulbs. As far as their other "green" benefits, I'm not really convinced of any of it. So much of what is promoted as environmentally friendly just seems ridiculous to me.Lisa D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14777395903446188971noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1160371074353452445.post-27084102279181630292010-11-15T07:31:29.543-08:002010-11-15T07:31:29.543-08:00Hi Suzanne, I'm not much for novelty desserts...Hi Suzanne, I'm not much for novelty desserts, but I have 3 guys here who would LOVE them. Way too sweet, way too many calories, too much muddled flavors. Yuuuuck! And sorry, but the red velvet cheesecake is out also. Heaps and gobs of artificial red food coloring, and that is something I don't touch anymore.
