You just gotta love the enthusiasm of young people. I was going to say that mine faded many years ago but that's not true. I think I'm really, really lucky that I've been able to nurture my enthusiasm for life. Isn't that the best shot at the fountain of youth? I think so.
Asparagus in January

I remember when asparagus was rare. Even though we had a asparagus casserole recipe that used the canned stuff, it was something that was for special occasions. And my rural grandparents had a bed of asparagus, and I remember the shoots coming up and being amazed at learning how they grew. We never had asparagus with my "city" grandparents (who raised my brother and me). I suppose that's because they didn't have room to dedicate to just one vegetable with a city garden.
St. Augustine, Florida? Is that where you are? I hope you are having the best time. I love these little Deja Vu posts...
Love the old posts. Too funny.
I do admire the energy that young people have, my granddaughter lives with me and keeps my spirits up.
Mmmm, I remember picking asparagus as a child and it was such a treat. Almost doesn't seem the same now that they have it year round.
