I hate to the bearer of bad news but Christmas is coming again! Are you someone who shops ahead or are you a last minute scramble person?
The past few years I've tried to keep my eyes open throughout the year, picking up gifts as I see them. The problem is that I've got to keep track of what I've bought for whom and where I put the stuff!
I do love to make gifts also and I found a wonderful spot that has 25 gifts to make for under $5.
The 36th Avenue
If you check further down the page she has a "Part Two" with more gifts. Great ideas.
Also, here's a link to a company that sells glass jars used for some of these gifts, including layered cookie mixes. I've also seen aprons rolled up and put inside a Mason jar.
Specialty Jar Company
So, let's get busy and make something wonderful for Christmas!

I did as you suggested and kept careful records. I spent more money that year than ever before. I decided to return to my scramble method. =D
Off to follow your link...
In my old age - started a few years ago - I'm having trouble remembering who got what last year. So now I like to give everybody the same kind of item - last year everybody got a new wallet, and one year everybody got a hand knit scarf. It helps me to remember, and helps siblings to feel that grandma is not playing favorites.
Apron in a jar... that'd get a laugh.
Hugs
I like to buy during the year. Whenever I see something that has gift potential, I pick it up. I have a bin in my closet with gifts waiting to be given. I have a list of what's in there. I love to make gifts as well. Many years ago, I started keeping track of what I've given as gifts in a ledger type book. It helps me keep track of what I've given as well as keeping those names I need to remember gifts for, right in front of me. Merry Christmas!
I have so many occasions in between now and then...(best friend's birthday, niece's wedding) that Christmas will have to wait for a place in my thoughts. I love year-round shopping, so I usually have a few cool things before scramble time comes. I like Millicent's idea of keeping a ledger. I made jar gifts (soups & cookies) last year, and they were well received.
One of my best gift years was when I had your cute ornaments to include in the packages. I am fond of snowmen if you are planning to make more of them!:)
I shop all year as many of the gifts end up being used for birthdays in addition to Christmas. I've learned if you see the "perfect" gift to get it then because it won't be there when you want it later! I have a cabinet in my bedroom where I keep everything so it's all in one place. I usually start a Xmas list too right after Halloween so I keep track of all the stuff I still need to get and I keep it in my purse.
