Monday Morning Staff Meeting - the Prodigal Blogger

Good morning everyone. I hope this Labor Day Monday finds everyone well and happy.

First I want to thank all of you for your friendship and your concern. I knew it was time to get back to blogging when early one morning the cavalry, the FBI and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police all showed up on my doorstep looking for me.

We are all as well as can be expected for our age. Life simply got away with me and something has to give. In this case it was blogging. I never meant to worry you. I am sorry. I have a peace offering. It is displayed here on the vintage pink sewing machine that my sister found for me on one of her thrift shop forays. Put on your thinking caps because I'm going to run a contest to name her.

The peace offering is a lemonade cupcake with fresh raspberry buttercream frosting. Trust me, it's delicious and worty of breaking any diet you might be considering. I will post the recipe in an upcoming blog post.

The second order of business is a short rundown of the past month.

We went on vacation with The Mother the first week of July. It as a nice relaxing trip. With her mild dementia we have to keep things low key and not plan alot of activities or large venues with lots of noise.

My little business at the farmer's market is doing very well. There are weeks when I'm hard pressed to keep up with restocking my products. The aprons are selling as well as my little wallets. This is a great problem to have but again, more stress.

In addition, we have ALL been to the emergency room in the last month. Nothing life threatening, just painful nuisances. If our doctor's office is closed the ER is the only option as the urgent care clinics do not have x-ray or testing facilities. They just sent you on the ER anyway.

Do you Pinterest? I received an invitation in the last month and will confess that I spent a decent amount of time during my blogging fast looking and repinning. It's a nice mindless activity that allows you to immerse yourself in lovely things without much effort.

I refused to join the Pinterest crowd until they changed their Terms of Use. For me it's a kind of mind clearing activity that does not require much from me.

Can you hear the sewing machines humming along? The apron business is doing very well and there are weeks when I worry about being able to replenish the stock. I hasn't happened yet. My fellow vendors at the farmer's market, the cupcake ladies from The Sugar Path, are going to open a brick-and-mortar location. I'm so happy for them and I'm going to be selling aprons through their shop. Stay tuned.

Also, my little wallets are also hot sellers. People are buying 5 at a time for Christmas gifts. Hooray!

OK, the day is wearing on and I've got to get this posted. I'm turning the floor over to you. Let me know what you've been up to.

Thanks again for being good and loyal friends/readers!

P.S. OOOPS.. forgot to mention that just when you sent the troops out looking for me my computer de decided to start acting up and then our wireless network went down altogether. I called the Geek Squad and it took them 8 DAYS to get out here. I don't really call that speedy customer service. It was quite an interesting experiment to go without internet for 8 days. I wouldn't recommend it anymore than I would going without electricity for any extended period of time. Just think about doing your laundry by hand. Yikes!!

Oh, I was so glad to see you'd posted today! It does make me smile, and I did miss your blogging. The cupcake was absolutely delicious and so refreshing for our snack this morning. I'm so glad to hear the farmer's market is going well. We don't have many of those here in Texas - maybe because our weather is so darned hot. I'm already working on a cute name for your new acquisition :) Blessings!

I was just thinking about you the other day and wondered if we would hear from you soon. I knew you were at least conscious because I saw you on Pinterest! haha!

Ahhhhh, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that you are here.

Glad that everyone is as well as can be expected and that you've had some time off and that your aprons are selling like hotcakes as well they should being beautifully made. I'm going to fail grammar at this rate.

Pinterest changed their terms of use? I hadn't joined because I didn't like them either. I have so many Pinterest fails logged that I don't give them the high praise that some do...the latest involved an egg and a water bottle. Ay yi yi.

Maxine, her name should be Maxine. It was the first name that popped into my head when I saw her, and she is gorgeous!
Glad you have weathered yet another storm, all while preparing for the next.
Pinterest, ahhhhhh, it has saved me :)

Lucy....perfect name.
Yes I smiled when I saw you had posted. So glad the F.M biz is going well. I had no worries as friends still tell me how they love their aprons. This week end I had a reunion with some high school GF's and now one with you! All is good.

Welcome back to blogland, Suzanne!
I've been missing the MMMs. I'm thinking your machine should be named "Cupcake", in honor of the picture. It is sweet.
Congrats on your business picking up! I'll stop now and let you get back to work.
Hugs

Yeah, you're back! So glad to hear life is going along as it does! It's great that your aprons and wallets are selling well and may have life beyond the farmer's market. I understand the stress of creating for commission but it's rewarding to know that people value what you make! I'm anxious to hear more!!

I just love your pink sewing machine. Can't think of anything but Pinky for a name. Looks like it is in beautiful condition.
