(Blogger has been giving me fits for about a week. It has not, so far, eaten a post. That might tip me over the edge.)

I keep a little paintbrush and a whisk broom in my car for such moments as you describe. The graves toward the back of the cemetery are not as nicely maintained as those near the front. I'm always appalled by the grass all over the headstone.

What a good thing to visit with family and hear that old stories once again.

And thank you for not revising history. There's way too much of that going on.

How awesome to know so much of your family history and to have good family memories.

Fascinating. I would love to know more of your family history. They lived in a time where things changed so radically and I don't think all the bad aspects should be swept under the carpet.

I hope you manage to have your grandmother's headstone straightened and cleaned x
