Deja Vu Saturday

So, you want to live in the country. You might want to do some research first.

O Pioneers!

I live in the city now, but I tell you what I prefer the country.

I've been living out in the country ever since I got married and I love it. We're not way-out rural, but we're not close enough to town to be affected by the town-ness of it.

I also get irritated at the city slickers who decide to move out here and then complain about the harvest dust or the slow tractors or the smelly livestock or the noisy grain dryers. Wah. That's COUNTRY, folks...deal with it. And besides, the farmers were here first...you city slickers are intruding on their world, not the other way around. ;-)

People are irritating. I've never been a true farm girl, but always wanted to be. But I knew it wasn't fun and games. (And I knew I didn't want to raise cows unless they were pets.)

What I can't stand most is when new people move ANYWHERE and try to change the place to suit them. They move near an airport then complain about the noise.

We moved here 6 years ago. Big city. Sprawling city. We are in the city limits and are packed into developments like sardines, but live further from "civilization" than I have lived in a long time. The city is divided--the old side and the new side. I never voted on city issues when we moved here because new people can't know what's going on. They can't know WHY the old side is fighting against the things we want/need. Being new, people need to sit back and watch a while.

And if you're moving to the country, what kind of idiot thinks it's like the pages of a magazine? REALLY? They should have open season on those that complain about the dust!
