Monday Morning Staff Meeting

Thanks for being on-time for the meeting this morning. We get cover some ground and then get to work!

First, I'd like to thank everyone who suggested spray painting the brown mat. As you can see it turned out beautifully. It even makes the brown frame look nicer and I've still got the $20 in my pocket that they were going to charge to cut a new one.

Next on the agenda is to announce the first stop on the Sisterhood of the Traveling Shack tour.

I had to draw the name myself because the Farmer was way too busy watching the inside of his eyelids while listening to the Colts Redskins (thanks Di!) play the Ravens.

Mim is the first person to receive the book on it's tour. Please contact me via e-mail - Abscissa63@aol.com

The rest of you can feel free to e-mail me also. I only have 609 messages in my inbox.

My intention was to hold a contest to name my new vehicle but the Farmer walked in one evening and asked me how the Red Sled was riding. Hmmmmm. Red Sled sounded perfect and besides he's the financier, so the Red Sled it is!

We've been on a small adventure or two so be sure to jump over to On the Road with the Farmer's Wife and check it out.

I'd like you to meet the engaged couple. They were on their way to Johnson's Mound to go sledding.

They're going to make some beautiful babies together!

WEATHER REPORT
It snowed THIS MUCH in northern Illinois this week.

Photobucket

Do you like my gauge? It's a construction bucket from our work in the basement. It hasn't made it into the trash yet. We're seriously going for a White Trash Christmas theme. Just out of sight there's the Other Mother's broken exercise bike. Can a bucket of beer cans be far behind?

The Farmers has promised to dig me a cement pond next spring. By hand. With a soup spoon.

Be sure to let me know if you make a Baby Jesu. I'd love to link to your blog.

Please feel free to give a weather report or list any items I've forgotten from my agenda. Also, feel free to leave a link in the comments section to let us know what YOU'RE up to!

Meeting adjourned. Go do some laundry.

I haven't seen snow like that in a long time! Here in Fort Worth we had our traditional Friday night in December at the Fire Station. They have a canned food drive. It's a big deal here. I always took the kids when they were small. This year my daughter's jazz band was the entertainment there. She ate dinner with the fire fighters then they opened the bays and the band played, hot cocoa and cookies were served and Santa arrived. It's makes you realize how fast the kids grow.

I love the name Red Sled! Hope you have many good adventures with it.

Wow! I'd give just about anything for that kind of snow...
I did laundry last night, still have more to do... it amazes me how much laundry I have to do for just me. :-)
Have a great day!

Suzanne, you're so much closer to grandmotherhood with each passing day. Now give those kids some space. LOL!

Red Sled...perfect name! You'll have to give us a critique on its performance and what you like/don't like about it.

No snow like that here yet. Thank you, Lord!

There are certainly more important items on the agenda this morning than pointing out an error. But it's so glaring and so confusing to me it's caused a headache, similar to eating ice cream too quickly.

The Ravens played the Redskins (24-10)not the Colts. Which begs the question, why is the farmer interested in this game? Hence the throbbing pain in my left temple area.
Di's jumbled theories:

1. The Ravens are not in the Bears division much less conference. The Redskins are not in the Bears division but in the same conference. Was the farmer interested in this game because he's looking at the wildcard spot due to the Redskins loss or win last night? Seems like the most likely theory however: a.) Why in God's green earth would the farmer think the Redskins had a chance against the Ravens and b.)why does the farmer not like the Bears chances taking the #1 seed in their division. Imo, the Bears could knock out the Vikings but maybe I'm more optimistic than the farmer?

2. The farmer is a true blue football fan and not just a Bears fan. He listened to the Ravens vs. Redskins game because he understood the historical significance? The farmer respects the longevity of the older franchises like the Bears. He understands that in 84' the Baltimore Colts were stolen from our city in the dead of night. He knows that the then NFL commissioner and the owner of the Redskins were thick as thieves and did everything in their power to prevent Baltimore in getting another franchise for 12 long years. The farmer also knows that the local networks for those 12 long years tried to cram The Redskins down our throats trying to convert Baltimore Colt fans into Redskin fans. The farmer knows this was a justifiable resentment towards the Redskins. Hence, realizing the Baltimore rivalry (hatred, really) towards the Redskins?

So, my dear Suzanne, I need to add one more item to today's agenda. Is the farmer a football fan or is he a Bear's fan. This reader with a splitting headache needs to know!

p.s. The Bears are my favorite team in the NFC. I enjoyed watching them win big yesterday.

Your snow makes my snow look pitiful! :) I love your staff meeting posts.

Ha, you can't tell me what to do!
Love this post, the whole staff meeting concept. I was dreaming on and off all night that I was trying to get to work and I had all kinds of delays preventing me from getting in and I didn't have my bosses phone number to call him.

No snow here. Love your festive bucket!

Yikes, that's a lot of snow! Yes, I've done my share of laundry today, and I'm just catching up with a few blogs... when I really should be cooking dinner...

Gotta go.

What a cute couple all snuggled up together! I think we have a wedding in our future too but the question hasn't been officially popped yet.

Heidi - Come on, it's no stretch. We're all putting off doing the laundry. It's a sisterhood.

Becky - I did a huge pile-o-laundry today. Did you finish?

Jeannette - Snow in Fort Worth? Rare, I'm sure. When I lived in San Antonio the drivers would literally go insane if there was 1/2 inch of snow. It was like a demolition derby. The canned food drive sounds like a great tradition.

Laura - I'll send you some...seriously! Unfortunately this evening we're getting ice and that's really, really bad.

Vee - I'm sick of waiting!! So far I love the Equinox. It's just perfect.

Blue Ridge Gal - I use the patio table also but it didn't make for such a dramatic photo! HA.

chocolatechic - I quit counting at 7 loads.

Di - formerly known as Anonymous . HA HA HA . I knew the mere mention of the Ravens would get you commenting. Hey everyone - this is my bestest friend Di. Say hi. To answer your questions:
#1 - Nope. Not worried about division or conference. He just loves to fall asleep in front of a good football game. I usually tell him the score when he wakes up.
#2 - Yep. He's a true football fan and understands all the history. You know that as Chicagoans (we were born within spitting distance of the city limits) we always root for the underdog/downtrodden and especially for those who have had their pro team stolen from under their noses. Convert a Baltimore fan into a Redskins fan? Never.
We bleed blue and orange and are lifelong Bears fans. But we miss Da Coach.

BellaDella - You make sure you're here for all the staff meetings. They take place on Monday morning bright and early.

Pam Kitty Morning - There you go again, trying to ruin your reputation as my Crappy Commenter. Go stand in the corner.

Mary - Oh Mary, that's nothing. We've had so much snow that we ran out of places to put it. We had so much snow that we could jump off the roof into the snowdrifts and it wasn't much of a jump. Wait.

Life in Red Shoes - Do you remember where you got the pattern? I don't. Thanks, I'm so glad you think my son looks like me. I see alot of my father in him, especially some of his mannerisms.

Lori - Just wait. Sometimes the question popping happens awfully fast and then things really get moving.

Rue - Yeah, festive and funny, and sarcasm???? Hmmm, I might just have been nipping a little rum when I was dosing the fruitcake. HA.

Thanks everyone for visiting with me today. I had fun and I hope you did too!

laundry - hmph...the perpetual duty.

okay - done. Don't ever think that nobody listens to you, k? :)

Christmas traditions are in full swing around here. We finished our Christmas Countdown boxes only 2 days late, and the Littles are loving them. http://gemstatequilling.blogspot.com/2008/12/let-countdown-begin.html

And we are gearing up for our 5th Annual Lefse-Fest and Open House on Saturday. Lots of potatoes to peel, rice and mix. Over 50 people were invited so we need to make about 250 rounds (want to send home goodie bags with guests. A lotta work, but fun too.

I love stopping in to see what you are up to and the clever or fun activities/tips you have to share. Thanks for being a bright spot, Suzanne!

Look, everyone! My Grammar Nazi is here. Hey Paula, I need you. I'm sliding down the slippery slope of sloppiness. I just love that phrase. Glad you got the laundry done.

I'm snickering at the Red Sled.

You see, I had a Volvo 850, a red one... that was also called the Red Sled, because that's what it was in the winter (until I got smart and put on bigger tires. LOL)

Your Red Sled is much purdier than mine!
