The Way Back Machine

Photobucket

The time: Summer, 1982
The place: Our kitchen, Bartlett, Illinois

We'll title this one, "Baking a Chocolate Cake". Although on second look the bowl is small for a whole recipe of cake batter.

Our daughter would be born in a few short months, but for now this little guy was an only child. That meant that he didn't have to share the bowl with anyone. Doesn't this look like fun?

I can remember that wallpaper in the kitchen and how many books I poured over before making the decision. I also remember, years later, how insanely difficult it was to remove it. I swore off wallpaper forever and I've kept my vow.

The framed piece on the wall was an old piece of filet crochet that said, "Bread".

I'm stunned to think of how many years have passed since this happy little moment baking a long forgotten chocolate cake.

What a doll face even with frosting all over it...yup, I'm sure that you were allowing your little boy to have his fill on confectioner's sugar.

This surprised me...the date that is. Your kiddos are quite a bit younger than my own and I thought that they were the same ages. Wrong again!

A really precious memory and one that has started my morning off with a big smile :-)

We lived in AZ for many years and then moved to Maryland... every blessed house we looked at in Maryland to buy had wallpaper in almost every room... ARGH!!! I ripped every bit out and swore we would never buy another house with wallpaper... who invented that crap anyway? Most of it is not even pretty. I'm with you... swore off wallpaper.

I do love the photo of your son!

Hi Suzanne :)

Oh that face! I could just eat him up ;)

My kids grew up when I wasn't looking and by grown up I mean they don't "need" me like they used to. It's just a blink of an eye, isn't it?

hugs and love,
rue

We used to have the same Tupperware measuring bowl and I remember making EVERYTHING in it.
