Monday Morning Staff Meeting

Good morning everyone. I see you survived the weekend. Welcome to the staff meeting.

You'll find a very large glass of ice cold milk on the table in front of you. It's from our local dairy, Oberweis. It's wonderful and it's for dunking. This morning we'll be dunking these evil morsels.

Strawberry Milkshake Oreos. These must be a seasonal item because I rarely see them on the shelves but when I do I snatch them up. They have the yummiest strawberry taste, nothing that says artificial to me. Dig in while we talk.

I found a terrific group of women who travel together. They're called Sisters on the Fly and among their adventures are horseback riding tours in the southwest and fly fishing in Montana. I want to be a "Sister". Many of them have vintage travel trailers but some of them sleep in their vehicles. Heck I could do that......a blow up mattress and a portable reading lamp and I'd be set.

See if they don't sound like a fun bunch.

SISTERS ON THE FLY

I guess I've just got wanderlust in my blood after the long winter.

Recently I read that we're all supposed to be eating at least 15 almonds every day. I'm not quite sure what the health benefits are but I'm all over that plan. Won't you join me?

Let's start now. I've got a big bowl full which I'll pass around the room. Take your 15 almonds and pass the bowl along.

I haven't yet heard from Natasha about the status of the lambing event. Remember, anywhere between 13 and 26 lambs will be born very soon. They're already late!! Stay tuned because I'll be going out for photos.

Here is what's on the agenda this week here "At Home". We're going to be making homemade laundry soap. You're going to need several empty milk gallon jugs so rinse them out and put them aside.

Tomorrow I'm going to have a seat-of-your-pants recipe for you to try. I'm a firm believer that we should be able to make certain things without a specific recipe. Most of us remember our grandmothers putting a bit of this and that into a mixing bowl and creating food. For example, my aunt had a very large wooden bowl on her counter which always contained flour. She'd make a well in the center, add a few ingredients, pulling the flour into the well as needed and would make the most marvelous biscuits! No boxes, no measuring cups, nothing but the knowledge of what the final dough should look like and feel like. Be sure to join me tomorrow.

This week we'll go on another of our road trips but you'll never know whether it's near or far.

Also, as promised I'm going to show you a way to create a little piece of the country for yourself.

Now I'm going to turn the meeting over to you. Speak up. What's on your mind?

NOTE: If you missed reading yesterday's post, I encourage you to scroll down and read.

Strawberry Milikshake Oreos?!?!?!?

I have never had one, but they are calling to me.

Loudly!

Is the milk raw? Cause I just heart raw milk.

Almonds....I like those, and I also like chocolate covered peanuts, especially when they have a wee little m&m on the side.

For this week, I plan on getting back into the routine of walking. Winter really kept me inside a lot!

Then there is that whole laundry thing....sigh.

Hi! Just discovered your blog. Mine is Life on the Farm and Other War Stories. I grew up on a farm, hated it, married a CPA who was raised on a farm and after 10 years we returned to his home town area. Most of the time I enjoy country living.
I seldom buy cookies but the Strawberry Milkshake Oreos will be on my to try to find list.

Wow - I've never seen strawberry Oreos. How fun!!

And almonds? My daughter's lunch menu here at her new school talks about the benefits of almonds too. Interesting...

I like your idea of eating almonds a day. Heck, I'd be willing to eat MORE than 15!

Oh, and I've never seen those Oreos, but if they have no artificial taste, Prince Charming is going to have to dredge some up!
