It's High School All Over Again

My friends and I were talking at lunch today about the groups we hung around with in high school. My group was definitely the geeky/nerdy bunch and there was core group of us that stuck together out of sheer desperation. We figuratively locked arms to protect each other against the onslaught of unkind comments, misunderstandings and downright terror unleashed by the popular kids and the greasers! We were stuck smack dab in the middle.

I'd never been to the "Huddle" for lunch. That's where Anita and her gang hung out and smoked. The popular kids had the latest fashions and we were stuck with hand-me-down chic.

The geeks in my group all grew up to be very happy, well-adjusted and very successful people! Dennis is a producer who works on shows around the world. Go Dennis!

The reason I bring all this up is because I feel like I've been thrust back into that slot I occupied back then. I've heard about companies contacting bloggers requesting a review of their product in return for product to be given away to a lucky reader. Like I said, I've heard about this and I've watched in envy as Chocolatechic reviews such terrific stuff as See's Candy and the latest custom designed cereal!

I've finally been contacted but seriously, what's up with this?

They want me to review a product called "SMELLY WASHER".

I am not kidding!

It's a product that promises to remove mildew smells from washing machines. I don't think I have that problem because my machine get a continuous workout. But perhaps it could help Heidi with her cow poop and mud problem.

Honestly, I think the product could do with a different name. It should be named after the final result.... FRESH WASHER, not "Smelly Washer". Do you agree?

Anyway, I'm going to leave this up to you? The company said they would sent some product to give away to my readers. Should I contact them or not?

Everybody vote....

TRY TO GET THAT "SMELLY WASHER" PRODUCT or.............

DON'T BOTHER.

The future is in your hands.

Yes do contact them. Their product worked great for a terrible smell in our front loading washer. One of the big box stores recommended them to me. But I'm with you - a new name would be better. : )

Of course you should contact them.... It's the end result and not the name that counts.

Sounds like to me a great first step. Think of the material they've handed you. Smelly Washer. First they should call OPI or Glidden to borrow their naming departments.

I say go for it. You have nothing to lose.

The advantage of having a graduating class of 28 (including two foreign exchange students) is that it's too small for anyone to be too far on the outside. We had groups, but they weren't cliques. There were no hard and fast boundaries. I'd be happy to see anyone from my class or high school again. I chat with quite a few of them on Facebook.

Smelly Washer should definitely be renamed. My washer gets a constant workout as well, but somehow it does get a little smelly sometimes. I even took it apart once to see if there was nasty, soggy lint trapped inside somewhere. I'd try Smelly Washer.

Oh, definitely! I think I've got some old water in my standpipe and the odor is driving me nuts. Kind of. Anyhow, try it!

You have nothing to lose - go for it. Maybe testing that horrible sounding named product will lead to better products, like "Butt Itch Stopper", "Toe Jam Remover" and the ever popular "Ear Wax Candles". :)

Maybe if it was called SMELLY WASHER?? it would make more sense to me but FRESH WASHER would be a better name, I agree. What the hay...give it a whirl! I'd try it. It may open doors to better products.

"Smelly Washer" gives you a sense of revulsion and if your washer smells you'll get it right away. I think they chose the name well. Go for it.

At the very least, the name Smelly Washer picks your interest...although not necessarily in a good way :) I think you should review it. I don't have a smelly washer, but if I ever do I will know if this stuff works!

The name needs to be changed but try it ...

Go for it.

The name leaves a lot to be desired though.

To bad they don't make something to get out the super smells on clothes that even laundry soap can't get out.

Go for it!

Why not contact them...just for kicks. I'll enter a contest to win...sadly, my washer does have a bit of a smell to it...I think it's that weird rim along the inside where God knows what is hiding?! Probably about 700 socks!

I'm not part of the "in" crowd either...that's OK...high school was over rated, don't you think?!

Not to mention...Smelly Washer has fewer calories than See's candy!

"Fragrant Washer" - my modest contribution, although I cannot understand why one would not go to the source of the "smell" instead of masking it?

I love your new look! I know I am late to it, but my blog surfing time has been close to nil lately. Good luck with your new enterprise! :-)

YES - that is just the begining for you!!!
OH - how I envy you, I wish I could get/do somthing like that!!! SO glad you are 'moving up' baby!!!

I think it's a funny name. It would grab my attention!

No major companies have come calling on my yet either, but they should! Ahem, Canon, Disney.... I'm waiting.

OH yeah.... definitely participate.... maybe you can work your way up, like to chocolate, coffee or like Pioneer Woman, Kitchenaid Mixers....

About the High School feelings, I remember my high school had a student smoking lounge.... and not one pregnant girl..... now the high schools have banned smoking on campus and have day care for student babies.....who'd of thought?

I was the girl that wore boots to school and always had dried mud under my chair..... not a nerd, not a rah rah girl, not a jock...... a cowgirl.

I say go for the Smelly Washer. How many folks will be able to go through life proclaiming, "The Smeller Washer folks love me!" You know, take your thrills where you can. :)
Well, seriously, it's always great to try a new product and see what it offers.
As for high school, I think that it was God's idea of a little preview of hell. I can almost hear his voice saying, "Repent, or you'll spend eternity in the 10th grade with THESE people." Heh.
I love your blog. Keep the wit and wisdom coming. You're a talented gal!

Yes, try to get it... perhaps they would listen to a suggested change of name... but I can't think of one off hand.

Boy, they are really cutting back on advertising aren't they!

Please get it and test in my washer. It has a bad smell. I say go for it. A great start.

Why not? What have you got to lose? Smelly Washer today -- rotten potatoes tomorrow! lol :)

Michelle said...

You go girlfriend and review that product! Although, the name cracks me up. Who in their right mind would think to call a product, "Smelly Washer".

Hey Suzanne; I so go for it, I am with all the other ladies on this one. I am happy for you that you get this chance... it could lead to bigger and better things... so go through the open door.... keep us all posted......

Ps; yes the name could be better...

You know, it if were me, I think I would do it. Definitely give feedback on the name - maybe they need a subtitle?!

Anyway - it is pretty cool to be contacted, dontcha think? I'm thinking that makes you one of the cool chicks!

I'm also thinking that this product needs to be directed toward Moms with young kids - like diaper wearing kids at the very least, and then sports participating kids, and then teenaged kids - with really smelly socks (can you tell I've got 2 boys?), and then...

Okay - yeah, everyone needs this product! :)

I had a problem with my brand new washer getting a funky smell until I started leaving the top up when it's empty. That seems to allow it to dry out and not get that damp, musty smell. blessings, marlene

I say GO FOR IT!

You just never know what surprises may be lurking for you Suzanne!

Go for it! Sounds fun.

Do it! Your farming readers could definitely use "smelly washer" to clean the farm gunk up!

I just spent $140 to have an appliance repair person find the source of the bad smell in my washer. He took off the rim of the washing tub - brushed it with hot water and bleach (Javex), filled the tub with hot water, then used a refrigerator condenser cleaning brush (long and narrow) to brush between the tub and the plastic outer basin. Told me this happens from time to time - next time I'll clean it myself! I've never heard of the product you mention; Javex worked well for me. "Smelly Washer" isn't an appealing name, but if I saw it on the shelf with the cleaning products I might be intriqued to find out what it was.

Oh one thing might lead to another better thing...hope that you've contacted them.

I'd take it in a minute! My washer could need some freshening up, though it is in constant use too!
