Here we are again, together on a Monday Morning. There's some chocolate cake in the fridge and we're all going to have a piece and finish it off.
Just take a small slice because it's incredibly sweet. I'm sorry to tell you that we've eaten all the peppermint ice cream pie.
If you don't have a sweet tooth you might be interested in the leftover filet mignon.

What a difference a day makes, 24 little hours.
Remember the photo of The Farmer setting fire to the grill?
That was the scene on Christmas day.
The Other Mother had planned a large family gathering here at the house for the day after Christmas. All the grandkids and great-grands had been invited, 28 people in all. She'd arranged for catering and we'd cleaned the house but as I've said many, many times, here in the midwest the weather rules your life.
Here's the scene on the day after Christmas.
Same grill.
Our guests were to come from quite a distance and only a few lived close by. The Other Mother was very disappointed but honestly it was kind of cool to be snowed in with all that food, including that large chocolate cake and a peppermint ice cream pie!
Here's our patio table.
Guess what? It's snowing again. This is great news for The Son, who is a snowboarder, but for the rest of us not so much.

I received my copy of the Shakey Photo Project book. It's a really interesting collection of photos that clearly shows the viewpoint of the photographers.
The Chicago Photobloggers, of which I was a member, would meet up at a location to have a "shoot out". It always amazed me that a dozen photographers could come away from the same spot with totally different photographs.
Come back tomorrow and I'll share my images from the book.

There's a possibility that a new addition to my team.
She's pink. She's a heavyweight. I think she'll be a late Christmas gift to myself.

A pink sewing machine.
I say go for it!!!
I love your snow too, but so sad for the disappointment.
I won't be taking any cake, I am on sweet over load.
I'm on sweet overload, too! But maybe just a bite...
Hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and is looking forward to great things for the new year!
It was extremely interesting for me to read the article. Thanks for it. I like such topics and anything connected to this matter. I definitely want to read a bit more soon.
What a funny post. The pics are a hoot. At least you maintained your sense of humor.

Do you have a name picked out for her yet? Hey, you could do a name contest!
Well I can certainly see why The Other Mother would be disappointed. You guys got a regular lambasting. We're expecting three inches this afternoon...don't hit me.
A new sewing machine? Is Beverly ill?
Oh, but I could do with a little bit of that white stuff... we almost never get snow here and therefore it retains its magical, romantic qualities.
I think the pink sewing machine is a definate DO! And with all the snow, what better to occupy your time.
BTW, I loved your photos from the "The Shakey Photo Project" especially the Abandoned Farmhouse. It was such a bitter sweet glimpse of a time gone by. Thanks for sharing.
Rhonda
My daughter will have some of the filet mignon please - she's been known to have an extra piece of steak instead of her own birthday cake. I'll will have the chocolate cake.
We get at least one or two big dumps of snow each winter - two much to get a small car or van through. There's a reason there are so many people with 4x4 trucks. But it's usually temperature that cancels get-togethers here. I agree that it's disappointing to miss out on family visits, but the peacefulness and quiet of being snowed in is nice too (especially with a full fridge!).
Love the sewing machine and look foward to seeing the pictures!
I just made myself a cup of sweet Chai tea, so choc cake is perfect! I've been avoiding the sweets for the last two days so am good to go again ... never too much chocolate in life! We had snow like that the week before Christmas, and it's been minus 15 to minus 25 so it's still with us. Tell us more about the pink machine!
I'm planning a "clean the fridge out" dinner today. Other than that, plan to continue enjoying my week off work doing a little quilting and a little reading and a lot of relaxing.
Cheers everyone!
What an awesome old sewing machine! Chocolate cake and peppermint ice cream pie sounds delicious.
Look at all that snow! I'd be in heaven if I could have snow like that. :)
Peppermint Ice Cream Pie? Can we get the recipe?

Oh....Chocolatechic - I KNEW you'd be thrilled with the thought of a PINK sewing machine. I also spotted a pink and white polka-dot digital camera at Best Buy yesterday. It's a Fuji.... just in case you need another camera.
Kitty - Just a bite is all anyone can handle of that chocolate cake. It's very rich and sweet. Much better is the restaurant's chocolate cake shake. They make a vanilla milk shake, toss in a slice of their cake and whirl it all up. YUMMY!!!
Anon. - Hmmmm, yes, come back again.
Nancy - A sense of humor is a prerequisite around here. You won't get far without it.
Jody - I don't have a name yet, and yes....I'll have a contest when she arrives.
Vee - We tried to discourage the OM from planning such a large gathering. It's almost impossible to get everyone together between weather issues and illnesses. Beverly is not ill but she needs a friend. I can work faster and be more productive if I have two machines that allow me to sew without stopping to change thread colors. Almost every project involves at least two colors of thread.
Rhonda - The snow is wonderful and magical but the reality of shoveling and snowblowing makes it difficult.
Lisa - The filet was fabulous! A police officer friend of mine has told me that 90% of the vehicles they rescue out of the ditch are 4 wheel drives.
LDF - 15 or 25 below?? ACKK. We have those temps occasionally. The machine is a Vintage Pink Atlas. These vintage machines are my favorite. You could run over them with a truck and they'd still sew.
Karen Deborah - Hey, I never thought of eating the cake and the ice cream pie together until you mentioned it.
Laura - Unfortunately I don't have a recipe. It was purchased at the local dairy store.
Thanks everyone for taking time out of your busy day to visit with me.
