Drinking Fountains

When's the last time you saw something like this?

I thought so. That long ago.

The water was ice cold and delicious.

And it came with something else - memories.

I remember when I was a kid in the 60's, in the little hometown (population 600), on the corner of Main street, kitty corner from the drug store, we had a concrete/rock material formed into a water fountain, and the water ran constantly. All you did was walk up, bend over and drink. Not very 'water efficient', but it was. Thanks for the memories!

In the parks we would race to the water fountain. Memory of kissing the water with a boy.

Glad that you enjoyed your drink. I avoid those things like the plague.

Totally off topic, but did you see the ISS last night? I've never seen it so brightly lit up as it was last night. Thought of you as I waved to it overhead!

Michelle - yes, I think every small town had one. I remember them being in the parks, I guess so that us kids could stay hydrated while we played ALL DAY on the equipment.

mansuetude - That sounds like a very good memory. HA.

Vee - Ahhhhh, I guess I like to live dangerously. Remember, I ate all kinds of unrecognizable stuff in Guatemala.

Kat - Didn't get to see the ISS because I was at a fundraiser dinner and Contra dance. What's a Contra dance? Old fashioned Virginia Reel type stuff. I'll see if it clears up so that I can watch it tonight.

Thanks everyone for taking time out of your busy day to visit with me. I appreciate it.

well, I was at ballgames today w/grandchildren while the adult children played (can that be right?) and the grandchildren wanted to have a drink out of that old fashioned fountain. Didn't, as fountain wouldn't work. Not enough water pressure. Darn it!
