Monday Morning Staff Meeting

I'm so sorry. Nothing to eat at this morning's meeting, unless you brought something. It was a very, very busy weekend and I'm totally exhausted.

First, I'm going to give a shout out to KRISTA, who I met yesterday at a gathering in suburban Chicago. Her and her friends were so stinking cute.

Krista, come back tomorrow and I'll have some of the pics. Also, e-mail me so that I can get pictures to you.

Nothing more to say about this today dear readers. You'll be very surprised to know where the Farmer and I spent Father's Day!

Have you heard about the Beekman Boys? At one point in time they were readers of my blog. Not so much anymore though. They're pretty busy trying to make a go of farming in upstate New York.

They're among a group of people I've been reading about lately that have jumped off the fast track (in New York, Las Vegas and other urban areas). These people are opting for a different life. I'm not going to say simpler, because living on a farm in the country is hardly simple or easy work. But it is quite gratifying to see the direct results of your hard work.

There website is something to behold. Wow is all I can say. Lots of portals, lots of recipes. It's kind of a male version of The Pioneer Woman.

And, the Beekman Boys have snagged themselves a TV show on Planet Green.

I tell you the truth. I'm feeling like an underachiever. Bloggers seem to be getting TV shows, book deals, travel opportunties. I'm stuck out here on the prairie in total anonymity. I can guarantee you that if some film school grad came in here with a camera we'd have a hit reality show. Having the responsibility of supervising not one but TWO super-seniors (over 80 years old), two chihuahua's, the Farmer and the Son, makes for quite an interesting, chaotic and crazy life.

So, film makers and publishers can feel free to shoot me an e-mail and offer me a deal.

I'm hoping that life has simplified a bit and that will allow me to be writing again.

I miss writing

I miss you.

I'm serious about this. The friendships and the connections I've made during this 5 year adventure of blogging is nothing short of amazing.

Yesterday I met some fun and happy people. Take a look at this picture and see if you can figure out what is going on.

Come back tomorrow and find the answer.

Till tomorrow, I am faithfully yours,

I have never heard of the Beekman boys, but I'm checking them out.

I have missed you too.

I have been doing not much of anything.

See, it was raining for weeks, then it was sunny and humid and almost 100ยบ for days...so I have been inside for months.

Check out the material I'm going to be sewing with today.

I'm here, and I've got leftover muffins from Father's Day. They aren't stale, yet. :)

You're a tease. Oh dear. The Pioneer People of the world make me feel so inferior. Yes, I'm sure that just what you need is a camera following you around documenting your every move. Ha! You're a card. Miss you, too.

We've missed you too, Suzanne! I'll share some rhubarb cake this morning. It's a nice moist cake, made with sour cream and lots of rhubarb and a brown sugar topping. So, so good, and I'm not a big fan of rhubarb!
I'll have to check out the Beekman boys. I wouldn't say we have an actual farm, but we do live in the country and we have a few animals. Every once in a while I feel a bit envious of friends living in town who don't have to mow the gigantic lawn, feed the animals at -30, haul wood, spend money on fencing, animal feed/housing/equipment, etc. But then I go visit and I'm glad I don't have neighbours so close beside me that I feel claustrophobic, I'm glad my children get to run around outside, not hang out at the mall, I'm glad they know exactly where their food comes from and that they are learning the value of hard work. I wouldn't trade my life! (Well, maybe for a week or so every once in a while!)

With all due respect to the Beekman Boys we see this all the time in the country. People buy B&B's, stay there for a couple of years and then put it back on the market. It all sounds cutesy and homespun to live in the country and run a gentlemans farm or a bed and breakfast. Unfortunately it is a 24/7 proposition and it WILL burn you out, most definitely. I wish them all the best, they are fortunately well connected so that helps but the attrition rate is very high.

Don't worry, I brought some leftover cinnamon rolls from Fathers Day. Just pop in the micro for 10 seconds and they'll never know!
The Beekman Boys, holy smokes I just caught their show the other night and have watched reruns of the first two twice now....that made perfect sense.
The show kind of has a Modern Family vibe only WAYYYY GAYYYY.
When Brent washes the pigs...

I hope we get to see you in an Elvis wig tomorrow;)
Nice to have you back.
