Monday Morning Staff Meeting

Good morning everyone. I know it's been awhile since I've updated this blog and even longer since we've had a Monday morning staff meeting. I'll just say one thing, it's always something!

First of all, I'm sorry that I've got nothing for you this morning in the way of freshly baked goodies. The part-time 12 to 20 hour job has morphed into 35 hours and these old bones are feeling it. One of my co-workers is on personal leave for a month and hopefully everything will get back to normal soon.

One evening I was watching a TV show about U.S. Marines doing some type of training. As part of this training they embarked on a mission that meant they would not be sleeping for three days. I remember talking to the TV, saying "that's totally impossible, nobody can go without sleep for three days!"

I'm eating my words because recent events have shown me that it is entirely possible. It's not something you'd want to do on a regular basis but if circumstances call for it, you could rise to the occasion.

What happened? This week the Farmer suffered complications from a medical procedure he'd had about 3 weeks ago. We were up at 5 a.m on Tuesday (I had inventory at work) and for some odd reason at 10 p.m. we weren't tired. At midnight all hell broke loose when he started bleeding. He asked the craziest question, "What are we going to do about this?"

Huh? Really? We're going to the emergency room dear.

He was poked and prodded and things were determined. But the solution required that he wait till morning when the specialist arrived. Time passed, 5 a.m. came again, 24 hours and no sleep. The nurse brings the gallon of icky solution for him to drink. And we wait..... wait..... wait..... till it does it's magic. And we wait..... wait.... 5 p.m. arrives, 36 hours awake with only a 30 minute nap. He undergoes the repair procedure and is stablized at 9 p.m.

My drive home at 10 p.m. was quite interesting. The windows were wide open, fresh air streaming in to keep me alert. The Farmer and I hit 41 hours without sleep and let me tell you it takes awhile for your body to make that up.

The Farmer is fine. He was released on Friday evening and all is well. You've heard the adage, "old age is not for sissies", tis true.

With all the health drama lately, I'm dreaming about taking the Farmer, the Chihuahua's and running away from home.

I recently met one of the Sisters on the Fly and she regaled me with tales of driving off to Wyoming in her vintage travel trailer.

I found this one on the Tin Can Classifieds:

It's an old Cadillac hearse that's been converted to a motorhome. It makes me laugh.

Here's the COSMO COWGIRL

Click on the link and check out her cute canned ham trailer. Here's a peek at the kitchenand the cozy little bed area:

Here's another great one:

Omigosh, I want to run away. HA.

OK, I gotta run and get some things done. I'll be back later to add a few more things. Thanks for taking time from your busy day to visit with me.

Good heavens! I might've chided you for being gone so long, but you've had very, very good reasons. I am so glad that the Farmer is doing much better. I can't imagine going without sleep for that long. I watched a documentary once about sleep and it said that one 8 hour session would restore a person. I didn't believe it then and I don't believe it now. Get lots of rest and when the Farmer is back up to speed, I hope that you both can run away for some relaxing time.

So glad the Farmer is doing better now. what a scare you must have had. I agree old age ain't for sissies, even though at 54 I am not old, LOL.
I would love to run away, often when I see a small motor home or trailer for sale I think about it. we have a young friend who we met as vendors at the farmer's mkt and he recently relocated to STeamboat Springs, CO, he has rented a small log cabin at a campground for the winter, gotten a job, until the job starts he has been doing lots of hiking and posting pictures, I keep thinking I want hubby and I to join him! I would love a cabin like he has built in our woods, I think that is more reasonable for us at this stage. LOved the campers!
take care and get some more rest if possible.

Oh my that is to much! Good thing your Farmer is doing better. And we all thought having babies and toddlers keep us up all night was exhausting:/ I'm with you on the run away thing, I have my husband on a tiny trailer search so we can just get away more often.

Fortitude.
Amazing stuff. I seriously thank you for modeling it, living it, and showing me that yes ma'am, it can be done.
There are soooooo many sissies out there today that I think it's becoming the norm. But it can't, can it?!
Thank you!

Oh Dear! I'm glad the farmer is on the mend, and has you to take care of him.
Those little mobile homes are adorable. I plan to live in one when I retire. All I will be able to afford, if I do want to retire...but looks fine to me.
Hope things get better for you soon!

HOly cow I'm glad the Farmer is ok! That shocked me right out of my crappy commenter status.

You're right about old age. Somedays I feel like a teen ager, others, 101. More days like the later lately.
Glad all is now well there again.
Back to my normal status. xo

Good grief, I'm glad everything turned our ok!
Sleep, the older I get the more I enjoy it. I'm up at 5:30 am and home by 12:30 pm. I make the Mr. his now famous hamandcheese withmayandmustardonwheat and head for my favorite chair. This is where I nap for the next hour or so...usually 2 :O
And about escaping, I found a darling 1964 travel trailer for sale. Picture this, it had turquise appliances!!!!!! I had the whole thing completely restored, decked out with red accents and was flying down the highway.......and then Mr. Killjoy said NO WAY, do you know how much work that is :(

I hope you two can get all caught up on sleep soon, and back to good health. And get time to enjoy life.
Love those trailers. As much as I love looking at/dreaming about the big, gorgeous, magazine ready homes, in the end I think I prefer something a little homier/cozier and quirkier like these very cool creative trailers.

Gosh, you have been so busy, and stressed out. I'm glad that your husband is home and doing better. Try and sneak a few hours of sleep in, and it is true about the saying. Life isn't easier as we get older. Take care of yourself, and we will all be here when you are back. We totally understand your absence right now. Have a great weekend!
