Monday Morning Staff Meeting - Is Blogging Like Bike Riding?

Good morning everyone. It's been a very long time since I've blogged. You probably thought I fell down a rabbit hole. Not exactly, but kinda. I'll talk more about it in a bit and in depth in the next fews days.

First of all, let's get to the food. This morning I'm serving grits.

Photobucket

If you say "EEWWWWWWW" when someone says grits, that just means that you haven't had them cooked properly. This also goes for collard greens. I learned that lesson on a visit to Charleston. The dish I ordered came with collard greens, to which I say to myself, "Yuck, yuck, YUCK!"

The food arrived and pecan crusted chicken breast and sweet potato souffle was just about the best thing I'd ever eaten in my life. Common sense told me that if these items were SO delicious then perhaps the collard green might not taste like nuclear waste. They were in fact, awesome.

So, dig into the cheesy grits and tell me what you think.

I love grits so much that I'm making them again for dinner, another Charleston low country favorite - shrimp and grits. Yum.

I sincerely apologize for leaving you all hanging and I am so grateful to have such good friends as you. I've received many comments on my last posting and private e-mails asking about our well being. Thanks so much for you caring words and wonderful encouragements and even things sent through the mail.

Has anything terribly dramatic happened in our lives? Not really, but it's been a perfect storm of things are energy and creativity draining. I've learned to listen when my inner voice says pull away and honestly the longer you don't blog the easier it becomes to not blog.

There are so many bloggers that have recently fallen by the wayside. Is there a common demoninator? The time drain from your day-to-day responsibilities is a big one but I also found that some of the blogger (such as Chocolatechic) had gotten jobs outside the home, as I had.

Let me say, I just hate the job. I've been working too long and it's impossible for me to take any of their concerns or goals seriously. There's alot of drama - don't need that, I have plenty of mini-dramas at home.

I'll tell you more about my plans to quit the job in upcoming posts because we need to get on with the meeting.

Pinterest - do you pin? Do you not? Have you weighed in on the controversy?

I received an invitation to Pinterest at the very beginning. The first red flag in my mind was that you had to be invited. Were they looking for certain demographics?

Normally I do not read terms of agreement, I just click and go. But for some reason I read Pinterest's terms of agreement said, "Oh, hell no". Now, all this time later people are up in arms about the terms of agreement, as well they should be.

Here's a little more about the brouhaha:

My high school typing teacher would love this item. All I can say is that you've got to love a geek. This guy takes old manual typewriters and someone connects and wires them to a computer. You can sit and type away on an old manual Royal, Smith Corona or Underwood as you would your computer keyboard.

A TYPEWRITER IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE

The Underwoods in our classroom were much taller and bigger than the one in the bottom photo and it took lots of pushing power to get those keys to move.

Jack sells them in his Etsy shop. I'd love to test drive one.

I continue to love ATTIC 24. It's so wonderful to be able to visit England everyday and revel in her world of color. Bravo Lucy.

Do you visit LITTLE BLUE BOO?

Ashley is battling cancer and I'm constantly blown away by her attitude and her ability to get on with life despite the challenges. She runs rings around almost anyone else.

Be prepared to be inspired.

Yvonne at STONE GABLE fell off the blogging wagon for awhile and now she's back. Her blog is a great resource if you're trying to figure out what's for dinner. She does a weekly menu.

VEE'S grandson fell off his bike and broke his leg. They could all use a prayer or two.

She also recently purchased a steam mop and I've got to get back into the archives and see if she's given it a review. I've been wanting one myself, so if you have any suggestions on a brand I'd love to hear your experience.

That's all for today. Again, my sincere apologies for being AWOL for so long. As for the question at the top, we will discover whether blogging is like bike riding, you never really forget how to do it.

Exactly. The longer you stay away, the easier it becomes to stay away and that might be just fine for you. It is not so fine for those of us who think we know you and are quite certain that we love you and feel as if you owe us. You don't owe us. We just feel as if...

Thank you for the prayers. Grandson is doing better and gimping about on a walker like a 99-year-old.

The steam mop? Well, let's just say that one shouldn't go crazy and do all the cleaning that has needed doing all at once. The thing is a bit heavy for this old gal and I'm sure that it contributed to the bad back from which I am now recuperating.

Off to visit those links. I'll be back eager to read anything that you wish to put down. As always.

Over and out...no, it's never over and out...if it is one thing I don't need, it's an old typewriter for a keyboard. Of that I am certain. But I'll check it out!

Glad there was nothing disastrous keeping you away from your blog. We all understand life sometimes has challenges and a blog is not the most important thing to worry about. Looking forward to new updates :)
Take care!

Suzanne, I'm so happy to see you back, even if it's only once in awhile! I've checked your blog every day. If you've been reading, please recommend some good books. A Fortunate Life and No Time on my Hands are two of my all time favorites. I will continue to think about you and your family, and wish you only the best.

Welcome back to Blogland! I'd say you - meaning you, Suzanne, do remember how to blog. Love the MMM, even if there are only grits for a snack. (Actually I do like grits, but there aren't many places to get them around, and I've never cooked any myself.

I haven't read the printrest rules, but I've had a bad experience on it, and I'm not even on it. I was invited, too, but decided not to even look because the inviter said it was addictive. I already have trouble with games, and of course, blogs, so there isn't any more time in my life to waste. Then the trouble with someone seeing my cardinal - that I used to have as a blog header - on printrest and accusing me of stealing it... then Blogger knocked me off the air because of the complaint. I had to fight to get my blog back! Nope, printrest has a bad name at my house.
I will pray for Vee's grandson... and ask all to pray for my Chrissy. She is having major cancer surgery on her liver - metasticized from the breast cancer she had last year. She's not 39 yet and has 4 children in school still.
Hugs to you and yours!

Welcome back...so happy to see a post from you again. I grew up in the south and grits have been a lifelong favorite...yum-a-licious, especially with shrimp. Zea's cheese grits are wonderful, if you're lucky enough to live near one of their restaurants. Again, welcome back and so glad to know you're okay.

Yeah, you're back! I've been checking every day - I never gave up hope! Welcome back!
I'm not sure what to think of pinterest. I have found a few cool ideas there but it seems cumbersome to me. Stimulus overload.
Glad you're back - I look forward to hearing more! BTW - I love grits!!

Hi Suzanne, So nice to see you back in the saddle, so to speak. It's been well over a year since we last met. I hope that the summer brings us the chance to get together again. Welcome back. Love, Penny

Looks aren't the only thing this cruiser has though. It wouldn't be a sixthreezero without the smooth cruise configuration, so you know it will not only look great, but it'll give yopu the smoothest and easiest ride possible California Bikes.

So glad to see you're back. Just found your Monday post today. Been busy around here. Looks like it must be like bike riding, 'cause your posts are as good as ever. Missed hearing from you and can't wait until you expand on some of your teasers!

I like grits, but I put sugar and cream on them therefore I cheat.
I have a steam mop, a Bissel. I have been very happy with it save one problem, the disposable filter. After what I consider not much mileage the thing starts to smell....bad!
As for pinterest, I love it! I don't pin my own pics or those of others. I only use the existing pins. I liken pinning to a nice highball at the end of a long day, and since I don't drink, it keeps me sober :)
