Monday Morning Staff Meeting on Wednesday

Another time lapse in the meeting schedule. What's up with the Monday meeting on Wednesday?

Anyway, here's what we've got to eat this morning.

Photobucket

Yep, a nice sugary raised donut with bright yellow icing. It also bumped up against a chopped peanut covered donut so that's an extra taste level for you. We spare no expense here "At Home".

Recently I received a wonderful letter and other items from one of my pen pals. She summed up my situation clearly because she's a in similar place in her life. What she said is that it's hard to get together with friends and people in general when all you have to contribute is a laundry list of your latest ailments and challenges. You hate to be continually burdening people with your stuff and you want to be able to talk about more interesting and positive things. That's it in a nutshell.

Having said that, here's what's been going on around here. Two weeks ago the Farmer was back in the ER. Nothing serious but something certainly painful. You know when you get a charlie horse, how terrible it hurts? Well, he had one in his neck and that does not allow you to stretch and work it out. He gets these every so often and it takes days, and a shot of muscle relaxants to recover.

I grabbed my Emergency Room bag filled with crochet thread, a magazine and some small snacks to keep his blood sugar level. He was a trooper, although everyone was quite aware that he has a low pain threshold. I was able to stitch up three cotton dishcloths in the time we were waiting and I'll be giving them away here in the next couple of days (God willing), in the spirit of the Emergency Room Scarf!

He's fine now but I'm battling bronchitis. See what I mean? Who wants to hear all this and who wants to keep recounting it? Not me, I'm hoping for brighter skies in the future for us.

I don't have too much to share with you today because I've been under the weather and not able to surf around the web for interesting stuff.

Here's something really cool. My sister is a very talented potter. Here's a mug she made for me.

Isn't it cool? She's made it in a way that creates a three-legged tripod stance. The handle has a thumb rest and the whole thing fits perfectly in my Keurig machine. She presses something into the clay to give it a quilted effect. I love it!

Here's what I've been working on. Owls!!

I fell in love with the work of a crochet designer out of the Netherlands named Greta. She also writes her patterns in English and they are very affordable. The wonderful and colorful cotton yarns that she suggests are very difficult to find in the U.S. I wasn't about to pay $35.00 shipping from Europe so I persevered and found a place out of North Carolina that carries it and ships it.... fast!

So far I've been attaching flat magnets to the back and thought about sewing them on napkin rings, but other than that nothing is coming to me.

It is a bit of work for a fridge magnet but I love these guys. She also designs birds and fish. Check out her Etsy shop here:

That's all from me this morning. I'm off to take the my last of the medicine and hopefully the next time we meet I'll have something exciting to share with you.

Have a great day everyone and thanks for taking time out of your busy day to visit with me.

Good heavens! What a rough couple of weeks. You guys do seem to be under a dark cloud by times. Some of us get a pain the keister and some a pain in the neck. Hmmm... You're plucky, though, Suzanne. I had to laugh that you have an ER bag. Who has an ER bag?!

Ohhh, a scarf of owls...what a clever idea, Terri.

Feel better soon...glad that you mentioned meds. Take care of yourself and see you next Monday. (That's a purely figurative term. ;> )

it kinda sucks to have a ER bag....reminds me of times when we kept a overnight bag packed in the car at the ready...because of those days i love boring, quiet days...careful what you wish for..exciting can be good or NOT!

That's a very cool mug!!!
I'm glad to know that you at least have a productive routine for the E.R. visits. The E.R. being such a scintillating place and all.... it's good to have something to pass the time.
I hope you get to feeling better soon and that your life hits a healthy stride! You and yours have sure had a run of tedious situations and maladies these past months!
Take care of yourself and remember, chocolate is health food. :)

You could stitch a safety pin on the back and make them into pins. You could also stich them on to headbands.

I was also thinking of the knitted headband idea. Rather than a big flower, an owl would look darling for a 10 year old and they would love the bright colors. Additionally, make a smaller version for their favorite doll and they can be "twins". Can you tell I raised a few daughters?

Yours at the Menger,

Tess

Charlie horses? MUSTARD!!!! Yep, mustard. My husband gets them and I give him a big spoon of mustard and they stop immediately. It's like magic. Won't hurt to try it. Hope it helps. Sandy

The owls are darling! You are always busy making cute things, it is just too bad that you have to make them in the ER. Hope you and the Farmer feel better soon!

Hope you are feeling better! Seems that so often when I post, I'm a broken record about how tired I am and I want to retire--so I decide I'll just shut up. Really, it doesn't annoy me at all to read what others are going through--we are to bear each other's burdens, so maybe I protest too much!
I'm loving those owls! If you get to Arkansas, be sure to holler at us so perhaps we could meet up!
