Celebrate!

Let's celebrate my 100th post here "At Home".

Well, we could do that but actually the 100th post was yesterday. Ooops. I'm not well known for keeping track of those kinds of things. And anyway, in the world of blogging 100 posts means you're just getting warmed up. My photoblog The Farmer's Wife is at 715 posts and holding. Holding because my photographic creative juices are in a just not flowing at the moment.

So, instead of celebrating the 100th post, let's celebrate the fact that the weekend is here. (ED. NOTE: It's Thursday, not Friday, the weekend doesn't start until tomorrow evening. Well heck, this was posted at 5 a.m. I can't be responsible for accuracy at that time of the morning!)What's going on in your neck of the woods?

Here in the greater Chicagoland area (we're at the outermost edge, 50 miles from the city) there are a couple of interesting things going on.

FLEUROTICA - This event is actually next scheduled to take place next Friday night, which gives you time to make plans.
March 28th - 7-10 p.m.
Runway show featuring fashions constructed solely from flowers, plants, leaves and botanicals.

I THROW MYSELF AT MEN - Kansas City performance artist Lilly McElroy in a photo exhibit. McElroy literally throws herself at men while someone takes photographs.
Thomas Robertello Gallery - 939 West Sangamon - Chicago
Check out her website - Lilly McElroy
ED. NOTE: The link to McElroy's site should work now. When you get there just click on the picture of Lilly to enter.

Here's something interesting I came across. A LA CART - Hillary Carlip started picking up discarded shopping lists. She's written a book in which she creates imaginary personas for the owners of the lists. Take a look at A la Cart the book

I've mentioned performance art which in my opinion requires incredible talent to pull off. I was astounded when Yoko Ono convinced John to join her inside a canvas bag and then waddle into a press conference, declaring it art!

Come back tomorrow when we'll talk about the ebb and flow of thrifting.

P.S. Just so you know, I'm the Queen of Broken Tags!

Lilly McElroy looks interesting! LOL! (I can't get the link to work either...tried right here myself to link to it...broken!)

I've been a fan of performance art since the flannelboard in Sunday School!

Zanne, I love your blog. There's always something interesting going on here...always!

This Lilly McElroy sounds like an interesting lady. Link wouldn't work for me either but I'm going to google her.
Such interesting things Ms. Suzanne!

Vee - I think I've fixed the link. Try it again. Oh, yes! I'd forgotten about the flannelboard....the lion racing towards Daniel. Oh, the drama of it all!

Robin - Step away from the tiara. I'm the Queen of Broken Tags, you can certainly be a princess. I will allow you to be the Queen of Broken Links, that's something entirely different.

Carletta - Try again. I wasn't much impressed with her premise but I'm pretty tough on what constitutes performance art. HA!
