The Rest of the Story

Are you a procrastinator, or one of those super organized people who makes sure that things don't pile up on them?

My name is Suzanne, and I'm a procrastinator! Honestly, I try very hard not to be. You think by now I'd learn my lesson but NO...........

So I had promised the second installment of the Make-Do Apron. I knew it was due. But I waited and put it off till the last minute. No problem I told myself. You've made tons of these aprons, it's a no brainer. HA!

When humans are feeling all confident that they're in control, the Master of the Universe steps in and says, "Whoa. Get off your high horse."

It was a slightly overcast day on Thursday and the light was perfect for photographing my work as I went along. Just beautiful. Perfect. But the universe had other ideas. My little in-home studio faces south. While I was gathering my materials together the universe cooked this up on the north side of the house. That is a VERY LARGE house that is dwarfed by those clouds.

It suddenly seemed a little dark in the studio as I turned my sewing machine and iron on. Hmmmm, what could it be, this dark pall that was threatening to ruin my sewing and photo session? Ahhhhhh, it's Armageddon a comin'.

Photobucket

Not only is the tutorial threatened, I'm now possibly facing the task of herding two chihuahua's, one cat and one 87-year-old mother-in-law into the basement. Living in the midwest you become a very good judge of weather conditions. And wait, if you don't like the weather wait ten minutes, it will change.

I went outside and found this roaring overhead at 50 miles per hour!!

Photobucket

It's called a bow echo cloud. I only know that because Ginger Zee, the really cute and perky weather person on the local news told me so. The cloud didn't alarm me though because it's not something that breeds tornadoes. If you see something like this.......

Photobucket

you run for cover because the hammer's coming down and you're the nail. I can't even recreate in Photoshop the sick green that the sky turns before a tornado strikes.

But I digress. The storm produced it's quick and furious rain, the electricity was off for awhile, the wonderful light was dashed and I was putting the apron together in all types of weird ways. Translation: I did some ripping out and re-sewing.

You think I'd learn a lesson, but I found myself once again dancing at the Procrastinator's Ball.

Anybody else want to join me?

Love your blog, Suzanne! And yes, I'm with you on the procrastination. I wrote a recent post on that very subject, LOL! And so glad you guys didn't get any tornadoes. The sicky shade of green comes through scarily enough!

I frequent the Procrastinator's Ball - perhaps you've seen me there. I tell myself I do my best work there...

Up until a few years ago, my presence never graced the Procrastinator's Ball...now I'm a regular and first in line, always!

Join you? I've been here all along!

Ahhh, yes, it's been several decades since I last saw that "sickening green" and I haven't forgotten it yet!

Don't worry about the little things in the face of the big picture. Aprons can wait.

Good Lord, that is truly scary. I don't know if I could live with the threat of tornados always hanging over my head...

I am SO there with the procrastination thing. Been there all my life... Shall we dance?

Hi Suzanne :)

Me too. I wait until the last minute for everything....ugh.

You have taught me something I didn't know... what to look for to see if a tornado is coming. I didn't know it turned green. How strange! Rich gets irritated when anyone on the news says it sounds like a train. He says that's a bunch of malarkey (his words are a tad different, but you get the gist LOL)

hugs,
rue

I will join you. I am a big procrastinator. But today I started to clean up my studio, that is a huge step for me. I hope to get it done tomorrow afternoon. I had to quit because my Nascar is on, I am a big fan of racing. Go #48 Jimmy Johnson. Any way I love the photos you took how scary for you glad everyone is fine.

hugs;
Alaura

Hello, my name is corine, and I am a recovering procrastinator. Procrastination used hold me by the throat and pretty much make my life miserable. I huge weight has been lifted off me since I learned how to not procrastinate (so much).

Yes, I'll join you at the ball ... hough I'll probably be a little late as I'll be running around trying to find a dress to wear!

I like the photos. I've been fortunate enough to never have seen the sky turn that shade of green. However, I have lived through some good earthquakes!

Cool pic! That is good information to know. Once I was driving a few hundred yards from a tornado just before it touched down-- and had no clue. I remember marveling at how flexible a grove of pine trees were. It never occured to me the reason until I saw all of the destruction on my return trip home.
:)
P.S. And Procrastination is my middle name. I'd dance, but I think I'll probably just wait until tomorrow.
