It's so funny how behaviors of our parents carry into our adulthood. Just before we left on summer vacation, my mother would go into a frenzy of filling in the wardrobe gaps. She'd send me up to Woolworth's to pick up Buster Brown sweaters for my sisters and we'd all get new underwear and socks for the trip.
I didn't want to jinx our vacation so before we left I went out and bought myself a new bra. That reminded me of this story.

I love the underwire story! It's hilarious!
Funny story! And I'm so with you on needing just the right one an panicking when they quit making it. I HATE shopping. And shopping for bras? Well, it's so easy to get tempted by the sultry ones, which often just don't cut it when it comes to doing their job. Unless, of course, their job is nothing other than being sultry, but that is not the case most of the day...
I was brought up the exact same way!!! When Hard Workin Man went on a weeklong fishing trip I had bought him some new underwear and handed to him. He looked at me like I was insane and he asked what it was for. I didn't know what to say...I thought everyone packed new underwear when they went on a trip!!!

I think I have said this before, but why is it that we feel obliged to spruce up our wardrobes to be seen by strangers who will never see us again? While our ratty old sweats are good enough for everyone we know and love? Huh?

Love this! I think I do the same thing when we get prepared to go somewhere.
