Monday Morning Staff Meeting

Good morning everyone.

First order of business is the subject of dress code. The dress code for these morning morning meetings is as follows:

THERE IS NO DRESS CODE.
Feel free to sit around the conference table in sweats, yoga gear, pajamas, nightgowns, ball gowns, hospital gowns or whatever suits your fancy. We're a casual organization here.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The second order of business is...... WHAT ARE WE GOING TO EAT DURING THIS MEETING? Sorry for shouting, but food's important! Last week we all munched on Heidi's lefse, hot off that awesome griddle of hers.

This week I decided to treat everyone to something special, homemade cinnamon roles.

Photobucket

Don't pay any attention to the aluminum foil pan. I got up at 4:30 a.m. to make these. I swear.

Dig in.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm still on a tear, ripping through closets, cabinets and other spots where all the "stuff" is hiding. You know, "stuff" that has served it's purpose and needs to move on.

I did go through that shopping bag full of recipes. The Farmer fell asleep in his chair and I stayed up until after 1 a.m. sorting through things including the recipes. As you can see I had a difficult time parting with the stash. The pile on the left are the recipes I'm keeping and the pile on the right is outta here. I am amazed that in some cases, Oprah's Potatoes for example, I had mutliple copies.

Photobucket

So, here's the plan. I have plenty of recipes that need a new home. If you want some from the "gotta go" pile, let me know with a comment and e-mail me at Abscissa63@aol.com and I'll send you some. There are plenty to go around as you can see.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

There's a bunch of uninteresting or unshipable items that will be donated to Goodwill. Paula, I've contacted the local Freecycle and I'm waiting to be "accepted" into their group. They're probably having the FBI do a background check. I do, however, have some interesting items that might be interesting to some of you sitting around this conference table. First, there's a mink hat.

Photobucket

I got it from an international airline pilot who bought it in Moscow as a gift for his wife. She never wore it. I know that several of you commented previously about this hat, so leave a comment indicating you're interested in the MINK HAT and I'll draw someone's name on Wednesday.

The other interesting odd item is this:

Photobucket

Doesn't it look lovely on top of my highboy with the orchid and Buddha on each side? It's a decorating statement waiting to happen. Can you guess what it is? It's a lamp!!! More like a very large nightlight. I'm sure that someone can use this. Unfortunately I do not have any red in my decor or I'd certainly find a corner for it.

Again, leave a comment stating you're interested in the BUSTIER NIGHT LIGHT and I'll draw a name on Wednesday.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Think about visiting the 2009 Bloggie Awards site and nominating someone for an award. I've nominated Liberty Post as best Canadian blog (she is!!!!) and Generation Y as best Latin American blog. I've got to go through my Bloglines feed and come up with more nominations.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

As I move along in my effort to get the house decluttered and organized, I'm feeling the need to be creatively inspired. My upstairs studio is ready for a carnival of creation. With that in mind I'll ask you to pass along your recommendation for a great craft blog. I'm excited to visit some new places, faces and projects.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The floor is now open. What would you like to add to the agenda? Comments? Questions? Suggestions?

Feel free to filibuster.

Thanks everyone for taking time out of your busy day to visit with me. I appreciate it.

Suzanne I love that mink hat! No kidding, my mother-in-law had one just like it...no idea what ever happened to it. So consider me in the running for that hat. :) blessings, marlene

I used to live in Russia, so I have several of those hats in a drawer somewhere. Too funny!

Wait a minute - it's not Monday yet, is it? :) I'm bad enough at being behind on things, lol.

I would love to toss my name in for the hat! It's already -15 F here, and I'd be wearing it!

I love cleaning out odd stuff! I always get a good laugh out of the funny things that make nice little homes in the corners of my storage shed or my bedroom closet.
I am for sure heading over to check out 2009 Blog Awards. I think it would be fun to find people to nominate. Way to spread the Blogland love!

Drat!

Had I known that I could come to the meeting in my jammies, I wouldn't have showered and dressed.

Does it help that I don't have shoes on yet?

I want that hat! I think it would add some panache to my barn chore attire. :) Love the cinnamon rolls. They hit this spot this morning.

I was so excited to comment so I would get that mink beauty that I actually skipped over the final minutes of the meeting - and guess what? - I didn't see that you had nominated me!!! I am thrilled that you feel this way, that you nominated me and that you shared that with all of your readers. Gosh. I am humbled. Thank you so much.

Cleaning out will make you feel great! I did it last summer. It worked out so well that when I was searching for that refill prescription that the doctor gave me in November it only took me 1 day to find it!!!

How did you end up with that night light?

I really like the lamp. It has sleazy tramp written all over it. And that would be me! I kid, I kid!
No, seriously, I am in for the lamp if you will have me.

I'm so glad you cleared up the dress code and that I can come in my jammies!

Please don't put my name in for anything. I have enough purging of my own to do. But I just had to say that the lamp reminded me of the "leg lamp" from the movie, "A Christmas Story," you know the lamp the father thought was from Italy because it was marked "Fra-gee-lee" (Fragile).

I have already declined donuts this morning and now cinnamon rolls!!!!! Ahhhh!

You should get a binder with those those clear inserts for your recipes. I do that for coupons. You could get crafy and decorate it.

This staff meeting is so much more fun than my actual work!

I would welcome new recipes to try!Thank you!

LOL!!! My daughters rooms is the lacy weirdities that girly girls do... Put me in the running for the Bustier (boohsteeay?) lamp :)

Thirkellgirl said...

I'm decluttering today, too... because our basement flooded last night. 4" of water, finished basement with carpet and holding all the furniture my father made, as well as a bazillion other things. I know you feel my pain, lol.
I'm wearing sweats and a tshirt, and eating... well, coffee, so far.
ps I do NOT want the bustier nightlight!

foil pan for homemade rolls? Oh, I ALWAYS do that, uh-huh [not].

But the thought was sweet, really. [oh, someone stop me!]

Better than what I offered, which is more snow. Any takers?

And how did I miss the lefse?! Drats - that will teach me to go AWOL from Monday morning meetings...and it would have been so fun to compare recipes with Heidi!

Hope the FreeCycle folks find you acceptable. Man, people are getting kinda choosy anymore, aren't they? I mean, you're trying to give good stuff away for Pete's sake!!

Can I put my name in for the bustier lamp? CSTM :)

My daughter is into red, and as a newlywed, she may get a kick out of it for their "boudoir" .

If nothing else, it makes me laugh at the thought of the expression on her face when she opens her anonymous Valentine's Day present (should I be favored with said lamp). I think I will leave it for her at work - a jewelry store!

oh, I am bad.

PKM sent me and you just crack me up. Your monday staff meetings are hysterical -- what a great idea. And you're in the coooold midwest -- you should be wearing that mink hat! I'm in the midwest too and my dad wears the hat (that I got in Russia many moons ago) almost everyday in the winter. I've often regretted that I didn't have one myself, so I'd love to have my name thrown in the...hat!

Hi Suzanne :)

I have to go through all my stuff and purge too. It's not pretty around here right now..... boxes, magazines, toys, pictures, etc... yikes!

I love your way back machine posts and the last one was really interesting.

I'm off to de-clutter and pack....

hugs,
rue

Is it too late to leave a comment for beng picked as the next owner of the mink hat? I have a coat that would go with it. No really! My heritage is Eastern European, so I naturally gravitate to things that my great uncle Nicholai might have worn. :) Thompson is just my married name. My maiden name is unpronounceable by anyone but another Eastern European. heehee

The red boustier lamp is tempting, but I will let someone else have it (don't want to be greedy!)

I found you via "Tongue in Cheek".
I live one block from the center of a fly speck- sized town which is 8 miles from anywhere else. :)

I love that mink hat. It would certainly keep my ears/head warm in them chilly southerly winds, that I am not looking forward to when I go back home. Ear tinglers, they are!!!

I found a bag full of recipes recently, decided that if I hadn't looked at them for years, then I didn't need them, so out they went.

Just wish I could be so definite about the other stuff that I've got in the back bedroom.

My large tote full of fancy Christmas ribbon is not negotiable, despite what the hubby is muttering!!!

I'm in purging mode over here myself...but I've got plenty of room for a mink hat! And it's looking rather bleak and grey outdoors...the kind of scene that requires a Russina mink hat. So throw my name in the hat!

How did I miss this one?!

Too funny. Hope that everyone gets her wish...

I need to get rid of the clutter myself! Tis the season I guess.

Nerm said...

I'm so glad to find your blog. I, too, am on the warpath about junk and stuff. I'm going room by room and having no mercy. Our minds do get cluttered, don't they? Thanks for your inspirational photos.
You go, girl! Nerm

Pick me! Pick Me! I am freezing my ears off in Colorado and desperately need a Russian mink hat that came from a place that is 9 miles a away from anything (possibly the most remote place ever!).

And. I think your blog is darling.

Marie said...

I'd like to have the bustier lamp --- I am redecorating my 14 year old granddaughter's bedroom - can you believe she has given me full rein!! I'm putting together some interesting decorating items, and I think she would love the lamp.

The mink hat is gorgeous - I also have several of them, and can't wear them here in Texas...They are way too warm.

April said...

Suzanne, I thought the mink hat was two pieces of burnt toast!!!! I'm serious, I had to keep reading and looking at that photo wondering, "What the heck is she talking about a mink hat for while she's holding that burnt toast?" This is why I need glasses.

Di sent me over and I crave that hat. I cut my hair short to let my grey grow out and now my head is freezing! HELP! Brain freeze hurts!

Linda Austin Hart said...

me, me, me! I need this hat. Why?
I went to Russia 16 years ago and came back without one.

And it gets cooold in Idaho, not to mention that my rapidly greying head needs to be adorned.

Finally, I'm a new fan (sent by the Blue Ridge gal)!

Win or love, this is a great blog & I'll be back.

Linda Austin Hart said...

woops, meant to type win or "lose," not "love" in above comment.
Upon reflection, one always wins when they love.
