Monday Morning Staff Meeting

Hey all you peeps! It's time for our weekly staff meeting. I hope the past week went well for you and that you were able to cross lots of things off your "to-do" list.

Last week I made the decision to ask someone else to bring the treats but time got away from me and I forgot all about it. I'll be honest with you, I don't know where the time goes. And honestly, I cannot figure out how I got everything done back when I was working full-time.

Anyway, i thought it would be nice to have a nice raspberry clafouti this morning. It's not nearly as good without some freshly whipped cream.

You can find my recipe here - Raspberry Clafouti.

Dig in. I've got plenty of these lovely pressed glass dessert bowls from the local Goodwill store.

The nominees for the 2009 Bloggies have been announced. Sadly, my pick for the Canadian Blog of the Year (Liberty Post) was not mentioned. BUT, one of my other favorite blogs Chickens in the Road written by Suzanne McMinn was included under the heading of Best Kept Secret Blog. You can vote for her HERE.

Congratulations Suzanne! If you haven't already discovered her, you should. She's got a forum where you can share and ask questions. It's fun.

My blog friend Alaura over at Cottage Rose has given me an award.

Thanks Alaura!

I'm supposed to link to ten people. I'm usually very, very lazy about this and instead just tell everyone to consider themselves tagged if they wish to participate. But this award specifically states that you should choose ten that show good attitude or gratitude. It seems important to me to do this now because in the last few days I've visited some blogs that are alarmingly filled with negative me-me-me-me-me-isms and it's drained me.

Here are some interesting, positive attitudes and sincere gratitude. Let's have more of this!

A Haven for Vee
All Buttoned Up
Bella Della
Bittersweet Punkin
Chickens in the Road
Chocolatechic
Life in Red Shoes
Million Little Stitches
Rue
Stitching by the Lake
White Crow Walking

That's more than ten but I needed a little more to counteract the effects of those negative blogs I stumbled upon this week. Life is too short to focus on that stuff.

You're not going to believe this but somehow I missed National Pie Day. It was on January 23rd. What the heck?

I'm the person who's made a commitment to finding the perfect piece of pie and I totally miss pie day? What's up with that?

This probably means I'll have to do some extra research.

THIS JUST IN -
Our Illinois Governor continues to find new ways to embarrass himself and leave his constituents speechless. In this article you'll discover that he considered appointing Oprah to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Obama. I guess he felt she had plenty of money to enter into the bidding that he "imagined" in his mind. And hey - he never felt the need to be in our state capital when legislature was in session, so why should he start now?

Does anyone have anything they'd like to add? Anything you want to discuss? If not, let's go get a second helping of clafouti.

I'd like to report that it snowed over the weekend, and I am frankly tired of white.

Also, I'd like to report that I have 2 generous loads of laundry to do today, and I have baking to do.

That is all.

The end.

Thanks for the award! Congrats on receiving it, too!!

Working full time? When did I miss this? In the doctor's office? What?

My family and I will be eternally grateful for the introduction to clafouti back in the summer and thank you for the reminder that I love that stuff.

Sorry about your missing pie day. I'm sure that it's still so close to the 23rd that you can rememdy it in some way.

Have a great week...really, where do they go so quickly!

*** I love Chickens in the Road!!! *****

1. I have a sick child home today
2. I have a new ill mannered dog
3. I think my blog had a stroke and is suffering paralysis on the right side

This will turn out to be an interesting Monday indeed!

Congrats on your award : )

Congrats on the award - and wonderful picks to send it back to.

Today I have vacuuming, dusting, bathroom sink cleaning, and some stitching to do - all before 11 when our youngest grandson comes for the day.

It is 18 here - wind chill of 10 - and I plan to stay inside in my snuggly warm house.

I agree with you about the negative blogs - I was particularly appalled by one - the blogger was accused of being nasty in the past and wow oh wow did she come through with a nasty blog in reply. Really saddened me to see that sort of thing going on in blogland - though I realize it is not Never-Never Land - it is still nice to hear positive remarks and look for the good. So I'm off to read some of your picks that are new to me - I love new blogs!!!

I will check out Chickens In The Road!!

I missed National Pie Day too!! I have to tell you though when there is pie in our house I take the whole tin to the table and eat straight out of it -- no plate. Because you never really know how big of a slice you want!!
Shhh... don't tell anyone.

Happy Monday Suzanne!!

Oprah as senator! Great idea, governor! Who else would have that much money for the bidding war?

Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

I would like to report that my attempts to keep my two recently spayed and neutered pups has failed utterly. I just heard a funny noise from the kitchen and upon investigation, found the boy pup standing on the kitchen table licking from the butter dish.

I will have to try that recipe! Looks great! We have a cold rainy day here in Fort Worth, possible ice tonight. This is the typical weather for the stock show.

How would the clafouti be with peaches?

Another Monday at the office here in Louisville. It's cold and gray, and the weather outside isn't much better! I understand the Governor is boycotting his hearing. How come I can't boycott Mondays at work?

Darn it. I'm late again. At least I won't get fired. (I hope). Thank You so much for nominating Liberty Post and believing in my blog/work/quirkiness....I think you're the best too! Best in America! (and that Blagollivicciedickity guy...my word..does he have an ego or what!)

Oprah as senator blows my mind. She is the expert on how to run everyone else's life. Just think what she could do if she had some power.

Most days it is embarasing to be from IL. So lets just hope for a bit of sunshine and warmer weather.

I'm almost ashamed of you for missing pie day - we count on you for these things you know. :) Thanks for the attitude award....it's all about that decision to get out of the bed in the mornings. Or not. If you're going to get up you might as well be happy about it. blessings, marlene

Ahhh, thank you Suzanne, sorry I failed to produce the treats for todays meeting, but the clafouti was delish ( thanks for that extra dallop of whipped cream!) For some reason when the chips are down I find it easier to be greatful, and come on, we have so much to be grateful for.

Oh my...I missed the staff meeting! Yikes...sooooo sorry.

You are a PEACH....just wanted you to know...thanks for the lovely mention....and the award!

I told myself no moaning or negativity on my blog (so glad the election is behind us)..and I find myself avoiding the downers. I know we look to each other for inspiration and fellowship but some blogs make you feel downright terrible.

If we keep looking at all the bad we'll never see the good..the sky is still blue, the grass is still green and flowers smell pretty.

Hugs,
Robin
