Monday Morning Staff Meeting

It's time for our Monday Morning Staff Meeting and I have to ask, in all seriousness, where the heck does the week go? I turn around and it's Monday again and I'm having to bake or visit the Italian bakery.

Ruby, Ruby!!! Please sit down. I'm aware that you have something to say but first things first. You know very well that we always talk about the food first.

Someone here has been longing for donuts. You know who you are. Sorry, but we're stuck with cupcakes again. But not any cupcakes. These are wonderful little morsels from a small place near Tammy Tadd's Quilt Shop. Yes, I confess, I've been buying fabric again. I can't help myself.

Anyway, the place is called Sweet Dreams and it's tucked in a little strip mall behind the bank. It's hard to find but worth the hunt. Look at the cute little box.

As you can see, I'm an expert at smushing bakery goods.

It looks a bit sad but I can guarantee you it's delicious.

Chocolate goodness with a wonderful light icing. Very, very moist. There's nothing worse than a dry cupcake.

Look inside!

It's filled with the same wonderful frosting. It's a veritable volcano of deliciousness. Don't be fooled. The little box in just for display purposes. I've got a large tray of cupcakes in the back of the room.

I don't know about you but I'm always thrilled to see news reports that begin with the phrase, "Scientists are stunned!" or "Scientists are baffled". Then there's, "It will take scientists years to unravel the latest mystery."

We all know that scientists are people too and they could use some job security but I'm always happy to see them caught off guard or surprised by something they were sure they'd already figured out. It kinda brings them down to my level, you know?

The latest stumper is a super compact galaxy traveling a million miles an hour. How could that be, they ask. I don't know but you be sure to get back to us when you've got it figured out.

While check out some of my referring sites (I love the peeps who direct people to my little blog), I found an aggregate site that provides lists of crafting and sewing blogs. They provide a link and a brief description of the type of craft or sewing that's featured.

After my link the description reads, "Average Jane Crafting".

Average? AVERAGE??? Hey, we're not living in Lake Wobegon here. Yes, the women are strong and the men good-looking but I consider myself to be just slightly above average!

We've heard from my nephew's and his family, who have just moved to Hangzhou, China for two years. Let's just say that if they can survive the first two weeks in China, they should be able to survive anything. The airlines gave away their upgraded seats and they couldn't sit together. This is a big, big issue when you're flying halfway across the world with two young children. Then the international banking system they'd set up flagged their account and referred it to the fraud division for some reason. Which means you're in China without access to your money until it's straightened out.

My nephew's wife had set up a blog in advance so that she could hit the blog ground running. Upon arrival in China she discovered that Blogger is blocked. Blocked? They can block an entire blogging platform? Was it something we said?

And then the typhoon rolled into town! We haven't heard from them since then. Updates to follow.

OK Ruby, it's your turn. This is the part of the meeting known as RUBY SAYS.

Hey everyone. I've got some stuff I need to get off my chest. First of all, I'm happy to see in the news that Jenny Sanford has moved out of the South Carolina Governor's mansion with the help of a gaggle of her friends. They were seen carrying boxes and clothes to an awaiting caravan of SUV's.

Woo Hoo Jenny! She's taken her son's to another location for the school year, promising to give her marriage a second chance. I think all of us who've been through something like this know where that's heading.

I've got a crew I call "The Menopause Bunnies" and we've been known to show up, open a second story window and toss all the guy's crap on the lawn.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer in standing by your man but those situations don't include putting on a brave face while he publicly humiliates himself. Standing by your man is reserved for situations such as:

unemployment
illness
raising teenagers

it does NOT include .....hot soul mates in Argentina.

He should probably resign and head down to South America to set up housekeeping. Don't let the door smack you in the ass on your way outta the country bub.

P.S. Being a good father means loving and respecting their mother. If you fall out of love, so be it, but disrespecting her makes you a cad.

Thanks Ruby. We can always count on you to have an opinion!

OK, now I open the floor to open discussion. What do you want to talk about today?

I'd like a cupcake, please.

About Mrs. Sanford, oh my! If my husband said on National TV that his mistress was his soulmate, I think I would have to move out too!

It is sooooo sad!

Good morning Suzanne :)

Now those are my kind of cupcakes! Yum :)

I hope your nephew and his family are alright.

If it was me married to that idiot, my butt would have been long gone. Women that stay aggravate me a great deal, maybe even more than the idiot does.

Oh and the week went by very very slow for me, but that's what happens when you spend every waking hour helping at the fair... ugh.

hugs,
rue

I'm still holding out for the plain Jane donuts, and I doubt very much that your donuts are average! You go Ruby! Go right to SC and help that lady stand on her own 2 feet, while her husband is sweeping the lady in South America off hers! Makes me crazy when a people have "to do whats right for me" and the kids are left to deal with the garbage. Freedom to blog and read blogs, I now count that as a blessing!

Cupcakes for breakfast! That's my kind of breakfast! And I love the name of that shop.

I laugh when I read "Studies show that..." Some of them are so ridiculous you just think, really, you needed to do a study on that? I could have told you all that!

I hope things improve for your nephew and his family, and that the rest of the 2 years will be a fantastic experience for them.

I'm not American, but amen to Ruby!

Do you and the farmer breakfast on Monday's like you said you planned. I might pop in and meet him.

Ruby.. you go girl

Be prepared. I have a friend who is a teacher in China. Most sites are blocked. She just found out Facebook will be too. Shes on several sites and visiting here right now for the summer but is going back. If those you know can find someone who knows about getting fake ISPs and such you might be able to circumvent China's blocking. Im on Multiply and it takes her awhile but she can at least post a few things there doing it with the work around. China got really bad when the Olympics hit and hasnt let up.

Miss Ruby rocks. Fabric? You need fabric? You are quite the seamstress perhaps some new styles to go with the assorted lovely fabrics?

Oh, Ruby, you are SO PRICELESS! I do feel SO BAD for those four boys and the poor example those boys are seeing in their father. May God help them not to repeat his sins!
I hope you post more often, Ruby!

Ruby is so right on. As you can imagine, I have written and rewritten a post about Sanford many times but have not pushed the "publish" button yet--need to tone it down a bit, I think.

Suzanne, I agree: you are WAY above average! C
