Spending an hour or two on Etsy takes me back to the old days when we'd spend hours pouring over the Sears and Roebuck Christmas catalog. So many wonderful things.
Here are just a few of my favorite things.
Christmas Cocoa Butter Soap
Handmade soap is one of my favorites. Last year I bought a bar of Wasabi scented soap at a craft fair. I know what you're thinking... wasabi? It had a wonderful mild scent. The bar featured above is a Christmas scent with Frankinscence and Myrrh. Another favorite is the hard milled French soap.
Pumpkin Pie Scarf
A nice warm scarf, especially one in a yummy color. This is a cowl which work great in windswept Illinois.
Fingerless gloves
These are not very practical but a fun fashion statement.
Steampunk Earrings
I never heard of Steampunk jewelry till recently. I like it.
Sock Monkey!
A sock monkey will always be on my list of favorites.
Weekender bag for Barbados
A weekender bag. I promise to always keep it packed in case the Farmer wants to take me somewhere wonderful. Barbados, perhaps?
Laptop cover
A laptop sleeve. I love this and I don't even own a laptop!
Vintage Red Bead Earrings
Simple earrings are a favorite of mine.
Beautiful writing instruments
Fountains pens made of exotic woods.
Typewriter Key Bracelet
And last but not least, more Steampunk. My high school typing teacher might not approve of his typewriters being deconstructed in the manner, but I love it.
Thanks for looking at some of my favorite things. Do you remember looking through that Christmas catalog and do you have a 21st century counterpart to that experience?

Yes, I remember the Sears "Wish Book." My brother and I would look through it, playing a game of choosing one item per page. We had the most glorious fun wishing! AS for modern times, I have turned to the internet, too. I have purchased from Etsy for Christmas but also from the major retailers and Overstocks.com. I would say 90% of my Christmas shopping is on line...sign of the times...C
Ooooh, I love the earrings and I don't even have pierced ears. That color and design are awesome!
Looks like a right nice list of favorite thing.

I love Etsy! Most of my browsing now is on the internet as we have tried to opt out on catalogs and eliminate junk mail.
Your list of favorites is way funner than Oprahs(whom I haven't watched in years but I hear she's getting out of the business, maybe you could step in and do a bloggervision!)
Those fingerless gloves would great for working on the computer and mouse. My desk is granite and it gets cold. My right had that does most of the mouse work is always freezing.
Yes, I do fondly remember looking through the catalog, that is what we would use to make a Christmas wish list.
The Sears Wishbook is still around - my mother-in-law taught my children to put their initials beside the things they like, so she would have an idea of what to get them for Christmas. I have to laugh at some of the things they initial, though. My 7 year old daughter initialed some earrings and I asked her why, because her ears are not pierced. She said, "I know, but I still like them."
I don't do a lot of internet shopping, because I have dial-up, so waiting for many pictures is a pain (by the way Suzanne, your blog loads nice and fast, so thank-you!). I will have to do some more checking out on Etsy though. I love to do homemade Christmas gifts, or craft show gifts, or we've done Samaritan's Purse gift donations, too. I want to give gifts that have some meaning and purpose. Who needs more useless trinkets cluttering up the house?
I have a typewriter key pendant with my initial and love it. Next I would like a bracelet that says, "%&*#",
that way every time I feel like swearing I could just shake my wrist.
yes, the wish book! and I can so get sucked in to Etsy myself!
Handmade soaps with cocoa butter are sooo nice... Really improved my skin, especially on the bottoms of my feet. Oh, and I love the pink glove video you have posted here... may put it on my sidebar sometime just to remind people to stay vigilant about breast cancer throughout the year.

Hi Suzanne :)
I used to love the Sears book too! In later years I looked forward to the Neiman Marcus Wish book, even though I couldn't afford anything in it LOL Now I love Etsy. I found wonderful things on there too.
I'm glad to hear you had a great Thanksgiving, but you made me HUNGRY. That food looked really really good.
hugs,

This is really cute!
I highly reccomend taking a trip to Barbados. We were there a month ago and it was fantastic. We are farmers in Alaska and it was a nive way to end the season!
