or course, because I'm all about the barns.
The interesting thing about both of these buildings is that they were saved from the march of development and certain destruction when the Peck family donated the Italianate farmhouse, barn and silo to the city of Geneva. The Park District took ownership and responsibility for the large property. The barn has been converted to a multi-use space, used for meetings and exhibits. The silo has a circular staircase and two viewing platforms that look out over the former farmland which has been returned to prairie.

Houston - we have a problem!
As of yesterdaym, all my digital cameras are broken! I have three, a small point-and-shoot which has a broken latch on the battery door; a larger Fuji that went kablooey yesterday and now only takes photos that resemble ultrasound images; and a big, expensive Nikon that has developed problem recording to the memory card. OH MY......so many cameras, so many problems. They were all purchased around the same time period and lo, they're breaking down in the order of their purchase.
I'm off to attempt repairs or to purchase something inexpensive to tide me over until I can effect some repairs. What's a blog (or a shop) without photos? If I was Maya Angelou I'd be able to paint with words alone.

Love the barn. I love old buildings! My camera has had duct tape on the battery hinge this past year, but it seems to work. Only thing is, the duct tape leaves "stickies" when I peel it back to take the battery out to recharge! Cheers!
What a coincidence - as I'm reading your blog I'm on hold with Canon customer service trying to trade in my broken camera so I can get back to what I love - taking pictures! Good luck with yours, I'd get twitchy if all my cameras broke at once!
Lovely photos, Suzanne. Of course you are a photographer and an artist who does paint with words alone, but it is still awful for all three cameras to be down at the same time.
No we must have cameras! I have a little Cannon sure shot and love it!

I find my kids shying away from the lens of late and hearing words like....this is gonna end up in Moms blog. I have to giggle a little, the adult punks bought me the darn thing last Mother's Day so I could post pics in my blog. Heeeheehe!!!

Since it's a few months since you wrote this post, you've probably resolved the battery door problem. For future reference, gaffer's tape is good for fixing problems like that. It doesn't leave a residue like duct tape and the adhesive lasts through many tapings and untapings.
Congrats on being part of the Shakey Project. I saw some of Bill Vaccaro's work, including the book, at a local gallery recently.
I managed to pick up a Shakey camera on eBay. I have a number of toy cameras, and it is definitely one of the worst, if not the worst--fixed focus, fixed aperture, loose winding of film, etc. Having said that, occasionally a good picture comes out of it--like this one.
