New Peeps!!

Do you remember the day I saw elephants and touring bands? The most amazing things can happen when you venture out from homebase and drive the 9 miles towards something!

A tour bus was parked at a local gas station and I took a photo because I'd never heard of Tin Horse and it occurred to me that maybe I should have.

Photobucket

I went home and looked them up on Dogpile. Sure enough, there they were - a Chicago country group made up of three women. I listened and I liked what I heard. At first, due to my deep southern roots, I was skeptical of the concept of a country group from Chicago, of all places.

You have to understand that my family has been living about 50 miles from Nashville since the late 1700's and my great-great-great-grandfather has a roadside marker. I'm no slouch when it comes to bar hopping in Nashville. The Farmer and I spent many a night in Tootie's Orchid Lounge. What happens in Tootsie's, stays in Tootsie's. It was the spot where country music stars would hang out after the Opry show. They'd sit around and jam together.

After listening to a bit of Tin Horse, I filled out a questionnaire, put myself on their mailing list and became a "Pony", which is basically one of their peeps.

I was surprised to discover that my tour bus sighting was covered on their website. After heated negotiations.....OK, it was just one e-mail, the ladies of Tin Horse have agreed to be the official band of this blog! I'm a real music lover and the chance to have my own official blog band was more than I could resist!

There's a cute video of them visiting Dolly at the Speedway gas station in Indiana on one of their road trips. Be sure to turn the music off first.

Unfortunately they're music isn't on Playlist yet, but hopefully soon. Today you're listening to Keith Urban, just to get you in the country mood.

Be sure to pop over to the Tin Horse Website and check them out. They'll be playing nearby in the middle of August and we're all going to the show. Maybe they'll give me an interview. I'll need to start working on some questions now.

Thanks for visting today. I hope you like Tin Horse!

HOW. COOL. IS. THAT????? Wow!

I have to admit I'm not a big country music fan. WAIT!!! There's more! I grew up with only country music in my house. I liked some of it then (there was nothing else to do but listen to it), but I "grew out of it." But I love the music on this blog. It's always so fitting. It even takes me back to those country music days growing up, and it is sort of a fond remembrance.

I am just so excited for you!

Very cool -- yes -- and love the color of the bus in the photo... I've always been a fan of folk music. And since country has its roots in folk, I've enjoyed some country music over the years too. Do you like Hal Ketchum? He's coming to Ann Arbor Friday night, and we're going to see him.

Louise - I love all kinds of music. Here's how the music started on my blog. A long time ago a friend and I decided that there wasn't any subject you could think of that didn't have a song written about it. I set out to prove that was true and so I try to find a piece of music each day that ties in with the subject matter. The best one was the "garage sale song" I featured one day. It depends on how tired I am when I schedule the post as to how good the music might be.

Cindy - I love Hal Ketchum, have a great time at the concert.

Amy - Oh, yeah, Keith is fine.

Tiffany - It just kinda happened. They're very friendly and they're finding out that their tour bus is actually a very good marketing tool. A lot of people who spotted the bus went home and looked them up on the internet.

Debbie - I'm working on getting a rock and roll band next. Tin Horse has something called "Tin Horse Ponies", which are fans. I think you'd need to be a guy to officially be a groupie.

Carolyn - I'm going to go see them live in August. Hopefully I'll have a video recorder by then.

Thanks everyone for visiting today!

- Suzanne

Hi there, I just read your comment on Curious Soft regarding checking out War Eagle...hope you found some info, but that is just the tip of the iceberg! There are at least 8-10 other huge crafts fairs going on the same weekend in the same general area as War Eagle....if you live anywhere close to that neck of the woods, you have got to go, it is amazing and fun, there is no way to tell you how much fun! times 100. Most of these are juried shows and the competition to get a booth is huge, so you know the quality is really high and there is anything you can imagine for sale....we have regulars we look for every year of course, just cuz we love to see them...and then there are wonderful surprises to be found and good food and delightful people and of course the Incas are everywhere!!! I love War Eagle. If you are even thinking about going and don't have a place to stay, you better try making a hotel reservation asap....my best advice. best, cathy

What a great video! You found yourself a great country band peep! My family was from northern Arkansas, so I grew up with LOTS of blue grass and folk music. My dad was a self-taught musician and could play just about any stringed instrument. I have his mandoline and a dulcimer he made! Your blog brings back great memories.

Oh cool! you go to Tootsies? Have you ever met the group called 'Stony Run' there? I knew them back when they were a gospel group and traveled all over. They have perfect harmony and are really great people. I'd never heard of Tootsies until I saw the pics on their MySpace page of them there at the CMA after party.
