I've Got Peek-a-Boo's!

The Farmer and I were invited to a wedding last Saturday and in preparation I dragged my shaggy self to the salon for a haircut. I confess that I'm very bad about getting haircuts on a regular basis and as a result I arrive with everything pulled up in a rubber band. That's known as the poor woman's face lift.

My niece manages the salon and she normally cuts my hair but on Saturday she was busy with another client so I was assigned to Marlene who is an awesome stylist. She does razor cuts which are great for taming my very thick and naturally wavy hair.

We talked about what type of cut I was looking for and Marlene exclaimed, "Oh!!! You've got peek-a-boos. Do you know how much people pay to have this done?"

I must have had that clueless look on my face because she explained that peek-a-boo is a hair color method that results in lighter hair underneath which peeks out.

Who knew?

Wow, I grew my own peek-a-boo's. I swear there's no end to my talents. I have talents I didn't even know I had. I'm sure that my grandparents or great-grandparents contributed something to my follicle DNA but I'm feeling a little down so I'm going to take full credit for this one.

Just wait. The perfect opportunity is going to arise for me to assure the Farmer that I'm a value-added wife! Yep, I saved him hundreds of dollars by growing my own stinking peek-a-boos.

Yes.....I ran the picture through my own "Photoshop Face Lift Formula" because I wouldn't want to scare anyone and heck, if I can grow peek-a-boo's I can sure do my own facelift.

You look great, can I just carry that little trick around?

I have curls, but pay a fortune for peek-a-boos in at least 3 different colors: light gold, dark gold and in between gold.

Wow - I have my own peek-a-boos too - but mine have come with time - you know. . . that gray that peeks-a-scare. And I try to cover it. Maybe I should put my head back, bare it all and be proud.

I'm impressed.

(I was also very impressed by the toilet istallation you had planned for today, btw. John gives you an A for effort and for courage. Not every gal would think that she's capable, but he's certain that you can.)

And I'm very, very impressed with the Photoshop skills and I'm begging for a tutorial yet again. ;>

so that is what they call it eh? Well....I have stopped highlighting my hair cause my hairdresser calls the white mixed with the blonde...natural highlights. Grin... or maybe peekaboos?

Well done. Now you have to work on growing your own French manicure....

Have a great weekend!

darn.. my peek a boos are silver and not nearly as cute. Now my only hope is more silver so it is pretty like Mom's

My daughter saw the beaded purse and loved it. Thanks so much. The coffee was fun too.

You crack me up.

A poor woman's face lift is called a Pompey Pineapple round here - Pompey being the colloquialism for the town of Portsmouth; the pineapple representing the tightly pulled up ponytail effect.

I always learn something new here ... I never knew about peek-a-boos until now! (And I sure would love to try the Photo Shop facelift you mentioned...)
