T.G.I.F.

Omigosh I'm glad it's Friday. This is what rolled in yesterday morning.

Photobucket

It's what's called a bell echo cloud and the rain was just behind it. I'd never heard of this until 6 months ago and now everytime I turn around there's a bell echo rolling in. Pretty dramatic looking though.

The flu also rolled into the house. The Farmer's Son got hit yesterday. It's a wierd one. You're slammed with a splitting headache followed by a terrific sore throat and fever. Shortly after the cloud rolled in it was my turn to get the flu. It's a good thing the Farmer is in South Carolina because I was in no shape to fix dinner!

It was warm on Wednesday which allowed me to complete one more task on my never-ending list. Thanks to all the suggestions from my Hen House Full O'Chicks I was able to finally decide on a color for the front door. It's called Merlot something-or-other. (Gosh, I've always wanted the job of thinking up names for paint colors.) I taped about 50 paint chips on the door and this seemed to resonate. I'm not sure that the camera accurately captured the shade. It's a darkish berry color.

So, what do you think?

Again, many thanks for you help.

In my flu delirium my mind is churning out strange paint names.....

Petrified Pink
Minted Lamb Chop
Cold Lake
Bronzed Butterballs

Oh, enough already. I must grab my corn bag and go to bed. Corn bag? Am I that delirious you ask? NO....my corn bag arrived yesterday in a box of goodies that I won in Lori - The Mountain Woman at Heart's giveaway. There were so many cool things in the box. I'll tell you about them later, but honestly the corn bag is the bomb!! I'm addicted...in one day. It's like a form of rural crack cocaine, I swear. It's a nice sized bag filled with corn. It's not popcorn so no fears when you pop it into the microwave for a minute or two. The corn kernels get heated up and stay hot for almost two hours. Oh my aching neck loves this thing. Seriously, you need to ask Santa Claus for a corn bag for Christmas.

OK, now I'm leaving. Bye. I'm off to bed and setting the Blogger timer for 2 a.m. so you'll have something to read in the morning.

Suzanne, so sorry you're feeling punk! Just stay in bed with your corn bag and rest. I wish I was closer, I be there with some chicken soup & a brandy toddy!

The door is beautiful. Just the right color.

Have to show the echo cloud to my cloud-loving daughter. She'll love it!

Feel better soon, Chris

I love the door color. It's the color I thought I was getting when I bought the paint for ours, but didn't once it was on. I do like the color to be anyway.

Glad the box of goodies arrived safe and sound. Yup, one hit of the corn bag and a person is addicted and wanting more. It's great when you don't feel well, just kind of warms you all over, doesn't it? Glad you like it!

Your music is cracking me up, since you said you have the flu. Hope you feel better soon.

You picked the red door! Yay! It looks great. Very east-coast. :)

As soon as dh brings me home some bubble-wrap from the trash at work I'm mailing you a little surprise...

Suzanne, I have been away too long. My life is a zoo. It has finally calmed down a bit. Yuck, the flu is a nasty thing. Hope you are feeling better now. The cloud is strange looking to be sure. I'll have to look it up. Your corn bag sounds like the rice bag my cousin gave me. I love that thing. Same principal.
Your door is outstanding and the color is grand. Good job.

Hugs...Jeanne

Yup - that respiratory junk has gone through our house, too. Ole was down with it for three weeks before he finally gave in and went to the doc. She said he was on his way to pneumonia. I lucked out and only suffered for about 5 days, but then I started taking Airborne as soon as he got it. Didn't cure anything but certainly shortened the life of it. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm so sorry you have the flu! I hope there is someone there to feed you chicken soup and take care of you as I'm sure you do for them. Then again, if your house is anything like mine when I get sick, either everyone else is sick and is unconcerned about how sick I am or they don't really think it's all that bad ;-)

The photo of the bell echo cloud is just amazing! I am going to have to show my hubby. We don't really see such things down here in 'Bama.

The front door is perfect.

Luv Luv Luv the door... has just enough touch of razzleberry in it! Flu shots? Did you get them this year?

The door is fabulous! The cloud is ominous, the flu is terrible, and corn bags, a little touch of love. I make them with feed corn that I buy at well, the feed store. You have no shortage of corn in your area! Flannel works well and so does a nice chenille. They make great gifts, we can't do without them.

You posted some magnificent pictures over the last couple of weeks!

The front door is BEAUTIFUL! I've always wanted a red front door. Just doesn't go with our house color - heather gold.
So sorry the bug caught up with you. Do hope it leaves your house quickly.
Good idea about the corn bags. I have also heard of using rice.

Corn bags are great.

Hope you're better in the morning! At least it's the weekend, so maybe there can be a few minute of extra rest if you're not.

I visited your blog way back in Feb of this year -- had randomly found you and loved your posting about bliss (there was an adorable photo of 2 pigs in the posting). Anyway, I remembered that posting while talking to a friend and came looking for it so she could enjoy what you had said -- and having been raised on a farm here in Australia, she could identify with your thoughts about pigs. :-)

So -- it seems a lot of your readers are women -- maybe I can be your token male reader :-)

I really enjoy reading about your life there (I lived in WV for a number of years before moving back home to Brisbane, Australia in 2006) -- because of my experience in your country, I find blogs a great way to stay in touch with the real America.

Cheers
Kim Austin

Nothing says healing like a good old corn bag.....I hope you feel better soon.
The door looks great....picking a color can be quite a daunting task...I am a color junkie so maybe I am in that boat alone.
I look forward to more stories!!!

My Granpa has a corn bag for his arthritis in his neck and shoulders. My Granma warms it up for him every evening and he enjoys it for a couple hours while watching TV.

We don't have the flu, but we're all sharing some kind of germy-bug-virus thing. Not fun.

Sorry about the flu...I sympathize with you.

Fabulous photo of the bell echo cloud...I have never heard of that. It is stunning.

And the door color is great...very inviting :)

Hope the flu is long gone. Love the color of your door. And I have to say, I am also addicted to my filled-with-rice bag. As soon as the temp drops into the 60's and my toes get cold, out it comes and it is my near-constant-at-home companion. I'm thinking about making them as Christmas gift!

I love, love, love your door! The color is magnificent... so unbelievably stunning. Of course, a red'ish door is my favorite - I so look forward to owning my own house again one day just so I can paint my door red. :)

The bell echo cloud photo is stunning. I would frame that!
